How does #STARvoting compare to #RankedChoiceVoting (IRV) and other methods, in terms of voter satisfaction vs strategy? (Including St Louis Approval with Top Two runoff, and likely your city's Plurality with Top Two runoff)

STAR gives a slight advantage to "Honest Inflation", which is giving your favorite 5 stars because you want them to win this election. STAR simply sums the points for the "primary" round, then it's an automatic runoff between the top two, pairwise

@freeformz not only that, we require them to metaphorically line up behind a single candidate, even when counting "Rank choice" IRV/STV But #ApprovalVoting and #STARvoting (and some ranked ballot counting methods, mostly pairwise ones) don't diminish your voting power when you like more candidates because your lesser favorites are counted simultaneously. Wild is that the majority of voters often like the majority of candidates and we don't seem to see this.

Under-appreciated benefit of #STARvoting is you get to specifically fill in the ZERO stars bubble if that's how you really feel. It's zero by default, but with some candidates you just want to make sure.

Background: WhenIsGood was in own league (way better than Doodle-style) but proprietary. Crabfit is FLO with that better UI but missing some features.

StarFit is a crabfit fork that uses #STARvoting (and this helps show also why STAR is so good (note that ranked voting cannot function for polls with so many options)

The national popular vote is a better option than the electoral college based only on the history.

Trump proves the EC can't be relied upon to even perform their purported mission.

The criticism of #STARvoting, that some people will only vote five stars for their favorite, that's fine. If you like #ApprovalVoting, just give all of your approvals five stars and don't worry about it.
