#TIL that apparently we have two long weekends coming up. Amazing. Very little permeates under my rock. Not leaving home, not mixing with humans, not listening to ads, not working, not watching tv, not exposing myself to commercial media idiocies... allcombine to mean that stuff like days of week, public holidays, et al largely pass me by, as none of it makes any difference. Often though, i do manage to discern day from night, so i suppose that's something.

I feel SO dumb right now

I was watching a counterstrike video (I don’t play CS) and the youtuber said “…who is one of the best North America players…” while a statistics page showed kill/death, win/loss, etc. But it also showed “NA”. This along with the verbal “North America” was enough for the very lazy neurons in my brain finally make a basic connection that those two things are connected. I always assumed it just meant “somewhere we don’t have an abbreviation for” or “location private” or something.

#TIL. "deergha-sootree" (दीर्घसूत्री) is the/a Sanskrit word for English's "Procrastinator".

PS: "deergha-sootree" can also mean "long winded" or exhaustive in some contexts.

Sealevels mostly do not rise because of icebergs melting, it's because warmer water expands. (it's a molecule-ish thing)

So either we all go to the shore and blow a bit on the water to cool it down, or we just take more care of nature.

I think 2.nd option would be best.

#TIL that my Lemur laptop (lemp11) from @system76 supports its keyboard buttons to be configured. Now I have media controls in place of WASD in 2nd layer, accessible while holding down Fn key.

Configuration should be persistent even if I distro hop, since it is saved in the firmware. What I wonder is whether they will survive a firmware update.

Diesel therapy is sometimes used on disruptive inmates, including gang members.[4]
