The junction in the funerary roads at Cerveteri in Italy. These tumuli were Orientalising tombs. They were partly cut into tuff and partly constructed. One tumulus could have multiple chambers meant for a family. #TombTuesday

Bronkham Hill barrow cemetery in Dorset dates to the Neolithic and Bronze Age. The barrows range from small, 3.7 metres in diameter, to large, 30 metres in diameter. The whole ridge top is filled with barrows and cairns and holes in the ground. #TombTuesday

13th century stone effigy from Arbuthnott Parish Church in Aberdeenshire, considered to be that of Hugo le Blond of Arbuthnott. The tomb below is 16th century in date, and contains the remains of James Arbuthnott. My own. #TombTuesday #Medieval #Aberdeenshire
Apart from the normal gravegoods, the Oseberg boat burial had fragmentary tapestry, made with wool, silk and flax. Most of the textiles that were found within the ship were found in the burial chamber of two women. The tapestry pictures human and animal figures. #TombTuesday
