Something strange is happenin, when I try to connect to my #VPS. First of all, I can't connect at all, but the provider tells me, it's working fine.

I can't #ping it, can't #ssh to it. When I run #traceroute, I get a few hops through my belgian ISP Proximus, then a few on a french hosting company called Colt and after that a seemingly endless line of hops that return no information, that is traceroute displays "* * *"

Any ideas? Is my ISP preventing me from reaching my VPS?

Some how I am very envious of the 60MB RAM footprint while booting into a #linode #vps. The best I could get onto my #homelab is 300MB usage on a #Ubuntu cloud image. This is unfortunately the same as my desktop #ArchLinux with #KDE running.

The Ubuntu server image idled at 600MB RAM usage with #docker & #sshd. The culprits using most ram are #snapd & #multipathd.

@thibaultamartin I'm most probably much less skilled than you are, and I can already say that my first #selfhosted deployments on a #raspberrypi and a #VPS were already too much. Resilience and scalability are sooo underrated!

I just gave up on the VPS and the #pihole

I'm even considering to move away from my #synology #NAS and use a "clean" cloud service. Drive, photos backup, contacts/calendar/tasks (but my mail being on #mailfence, I could already have those 3 on my current subscription).

I would be grateful to hear your suggestions about that live, and about decent service that could help me.

Here is a mystery I am working on right now...

A virgin #VPS with 40GB of disk...
Fills up with 38GB from 3-4 basic #Podman images. (!)

So far... ./local/share seems to have 34GB...

WTF!?

Mystery deepens. Could these be the Podman image layers?
