#Watched Dope Girls. Whilst I am not the biggest fan of giving historical dramas a modern soundtrack, I forgive this show as it pressed my interwar decadence, noirish crime, spiritualism/seance and brothelesque interior design buttons. Enjoyed it.

#Watched last week's #MurdochMysteries about the strike at the rubber factory, in which Detective Watts went undercover after there was a murder. When it's time for him to be assigned, the owner's clueless son brings him to the secretary:

“Miss Berger here will assist you with your training.”
“Which department?”
“Department? Oh, um…”
“Hoses? Tires? Mouldings?”
“Whatever you deem best,” says the man, retreating to his office.
“Let's see,” Miss Berger says. She looks Watts up and down. “Hoses it is.”

Later, Miss Berger needs a new job, and in thanks for her helping the police solve the case, Inspector Choi recommends her to be the city's first female morality officer.¹ After the photo showing Choi shaking hands with Berger in her new uniform, she chats with Watts. After a pause, she looks at him oddly, and he asks if everything is all right.

“I'm not yet sure what it is, Detective Watts, but there's something unusual about you.”
“Is that a compliment, or…”
She tilts her head, shrugs, and walks away.

The point of noting this is that Watts is gay. Detective Murdoch and a few others know this, but if it gets out, it could mean trouble for him. Will we see Officer Berger again, I wonder. #LGBTQ

[1] Which makes me want to check the character list in _Frankie Drake_ to see if someone was clever and there was a Morality Officer Berger working years later in Toronto. (How many years, I'm unsure. The show began set in 1895, and it's season 18 now, so it's 1913? _Frankie Drake_ was set in the 1920s, exactly when I don't know.) #television

The printer-mage Nox laughed as the King's Men led him away & set the printing press afire.

"You'll find my manifesto can't be destroyed so easily," he said. "I've bespelled the #type."

"Lead melts," said the commander, but whatever else he might have said #died on his lips. He, the rest of the King's Men, & the townspeople #watched as from the melting type glowing letters floated upward, forming words, sentences. The whole manifesto, there on the clouds.

Sörensen hat Angst

Auf jeden Fall anders, als gedacht und man es sonst so kennt. Ein wenig witzig, ein wenig ernst. Und mehrere Themen, die teils nicht einfach zu verdauen sind. Sehr interessantes Konzept und recht realistisch gehandhabt.

I have to be in a weird mood to watch a #movie, but I apparently was tonight. #Watched _Venom: The Last Dance_ and _Slay_. The swan song of the alien symbiote was actually sort of touching: 3.5 of 5. Drag queens and the locals in the mis-booked bar facing vampires had decent humor and action, as well as heart: 3.0.

War ganz witzig, Woody geht halt immer hab nicht so viel mit Basketball zu tun, aber war so dennoch auch ganz interessant. Find's auch gut, dass es mehr Filme mit dem Thema kognitiver Beeinträchtigung gibt. Tolle Schauspielende!
