#whatif

A satisfying end to #WhatIf, although I think the previous season was stronger overall. The big Watched fight was massive feeling and very nicely coordinated. There was also a ton of blink-and-you'll-miss-it alternate character nods. Peggy making the final sacrifice was very in character. If we don't get more of her in anything, a nice sendoff.

Overall the theme seemed to be that non-interference is not an option, something that regularly comes up in Trek with the Prime Directive.

It's a weird coincidence that two franchise animated series would within a year have their penultimate episodes be about a ship and crew of familiar alternate characters trying to save the multiverse.

I'm always a sucker for Captain Carter and this was a good team-up paying off previous arcs. The spell scene was nicely animated.

And then bringing back Infinity Ultron but he's kinda penitent? Cliffhanger #WhatIf!

A nice little Western #WhatIf. Makes me want to see Simu Liu in an actual Western, he did a good drawl. I didn't quite understand his sister's motivations but interesting to see even an MCU allusion to anti-Chinese riots of the era.

Also has Walton Goggins as... Walton Goggins. I like when this show goes even weirder. Hasn't hit the highs of S2 yet though.

I don't know much about Riri/Ironheart but her Vision self reminded me a bit of The Engineer from The Authority. (Who apparently is going to be in the upcoming Superman movie??)

Pretty good superhero failure apocalypse. Plus the Titanic briefly for some reason?

Now we also see the #WhatIf arc of the season is Oatu being more than The Watcher.

Another more fun #WhatIf with some movie nods (I caught Thelma and Louise and The Fugitive) and Harbour's over the top Red Guardian.

Wonder what season arc they're setting up.

That was a much more fun #WhatIf. Period silliness with some of the characters I liked from Agent Carter, plus Kathryn Hahn chewing (animated) scenery.

Her celestial body was a neat effect and the layers of trickery in the plot were fun. Somehow they managed to make a more interesting Eternals story in 20 minutes than the movie did in almost 3 hours...

Not sure if it's that the Hulk has never really grabbed me as a character (though I did watch the '90s animated show) but that first #WhatIf of the season didn't really grab me. Had all the mecha and kaiju styling but was missing something. Meh.
