We decided to create a small #survey on our #XMPP Providers project and invite server operators to send their feedback!
https://app.formbricks.com/s/cm9mttsv7eq8uw701thuzqysb
It should not take longer than 2 minutes. The survey is open until 1st May 2025.
Looking forward to hear from you.
Let's thrive true #federation!
I like the privacy features of #XMPP a lot:
- participants with certain permission level can be hidden
- non-public ID in public chats (the server knows it, but not everyone in there)
- there's only one place a chat is hosted, personal data does not leak over dozens of servers
- the name can be chosen per chat room, allowing to have a different name for different contexts
- profile picture can be hidden from users that are not on your contact list
Are there XMPP client comparison tables? Particularly for desktop ones.
Why does it seem like so much more effort to write a #blog post than a #SocialMedia post? Is it because standards are higher or something?
Length may be a concern, yes, but I just posted something in a private #XMPP #groupchat that I realised could easily have been a blog post, except it would have then taken 5 days rather than 5 minutes to get out.
@disaster2life gave a talk on #Prav in Noida meetup today.
I just donated to https://www.startnext.com/en/monocles
I'm a happy user of @monocles chat.
If you don't use Monocles Chat, give it a try. If you are already using it, consider donating. They also provide many other services to replace the Big Tech snopping. Projects like this is important for our Digital Self reliance.
#Prav stall at #MumbaiFOSS Happy to see @prav presence at various #FreeSoftware events around India.
Thanks to @fossunited for organizing these events and giving us a chance to present Prav.

Today I migrated my mother to XMPP.
Using @snikket_im for a new server.
She doesn't know what #XMPP is, but it just works.
5/5 Smooth set up and migration

Sorry for changing language, but my pt_BR does not exist
There are various providers to host your own #XMPP domain or your own complete #Jabber server.
E.g. #conversations (same people as the Android client, i.e. @daniel) or #Snikkett by @snikket_im and many more.
The former is based on #Ejabberd by @ejabberd, the latter on #Prosody by @prosodyim.
