I hiked on Babcock Mountain above Rock Creek yesterday. Steep? Enough to wake my vertigo, which kept telling me to stare down the slope so I could tip…

I didn’t.

Meanwhile, I’ll pass halfway on the novel scan today—after my walk.

The weather is just right & it isn’t the weekend, so I’m off for another hike, though nothing as epic as the last.

Time for a new area. Rock Creek. Babcock Mountain.

I seem to have perfected the art of the novel scan, because I’m moving quicker through Book-5 than any before it.

The super high temps have broken. Now, we’re just unusually warm.

Still no rain.

At least it’s hiking weather. I won’t complain about that.

Kids don't know what they have...

As a teen into 20's... I used to work on cars in driveways (cement or dirt/gravel) and never had a problem changing engines or transmissions, doing brakes, etc.

Many years later - taking a knee to check tire pressures and my knee is all "hey, WTF" and there are indentations in my skin as deep as the rocks or sand that is there.

Get yourself one of those foam kneeling pads --- and keep it handy.

On my last hike, after considerable time passing through dense old forest on a high ridge, there was a sudden break in the trees that provided me with the view that inspired continuing.

Here it is, beginning with the way ahead, which was to the north as I rotated. So inspiring.

Recently, I found an abandoned car. Here’s an abandoned ski area, though I knew it existed.

What led to its demise? No idea.

I know this entire month our temps have been above normal.

20 degrees Fahrenheit above normal. No rain. During our rainy season.
