In his first response to the #Trump #Putin call, President #Zelensky made clear he would support any end to #Russian #attacks on his country’s #energy #infrastructure.

That is no surprise because it was part of his own plan. But that’s the key point: the Russian offer is only part of the interim ceasefire plan the US and Ukraine had agreed.

Putin, he said, was still setting out “additional conditions” before he would agree a ceasefire and that showed Russia was “not ready to finish this war”.

Zelensky insisted Western powers would continue giving Ukraine military aid – despite Russian demands that they stop.

And he also said Russian demands for #Ukraine to be prevented from rearming during a ceasefire was just designed to weaken its armed forces.

As Zelensky gave his press briefing, #airraid sirens rang out across Kyiv. The irony was not lost on anybody including Zelensky who said it once again showed Russia could not be trusted.

#Russians have criticized #RussianAuthorities for not using #AirRaid sirens to warn #civilians of the danger.

Several Russian military bloggers have also criticized their authorities for failing to detect and destroy all the missiles before they approached #Sevastopol, and for failing to build shelters near the beach.

The Time Machine (1960)

This is the first film adaptation of the H. G. Wells novel. Although the story isn’t the first time-travel story ever written, it’s the first one to include a device that allows one to travel forward or backward to arbitrarily selected points in time.

After six decades, the film has held up well and is still entertaining in it’s own right. The special effects are pretty good even by today’s standards. They won an Academy Award when the film debuted.

Other film adaptations were made in 1978 and 2002, but they deviated more substantially from the book.
