Out of curiosity, I just installed the latest public beta 31 (RC1) of WinUAE 6.0.0. The new version seems to bring lots of changes and improvements under the hood, but from my point of view it still looks and feels very familiar, which is a good thing!
I dropped the new "winuae64.exe" right into my old WinUAE 5.3.1 folder. My installed Amiga OS 3.2.3 is still working fine, including RTG high-res graphics, WHDLoad 19.1 and MT-32 emulation. I just randomly started a few games from WHDLoad and directly from floppies and so far... everything just worked.
I'm really looking forward to the final release!

A few years ago, while I was still in the process of filling in the basic gaps in my MS-DOS collection, I felt the sudden need to start another retro section for the first computer I had owned as a kid... the Commodore Amiga. At that point in time, I had so much to learn and I am still working on it to this day. And while my Amiga section still isn't nearly as huge as the MS-DOS archive, it's come a long way from very humble beginnings.
Current size of the collections:
- MS-DOS: 560GB
- Amiga: 52.9GB
Cheers to all of you collectors out there!

Using multiple simultaneous WinUAE sessions to watch out for differences between multiple sets of Amiga disk images. It sure looks a bit weird and sounds even weirder, but hey - it works!

Out of all the Amiga tools out there, for me, the most useful of them all, is - without a doubt - DirectoryOpus v4.16. I would not survive without it!

Jurassic Park AGA isn't overly polite, but at least you know without a doubt what you're doing wrong. I like it!

While sorting through my collection of Amiga games, I just ran into another issue: OCS/ECS vs. AGA games. AGA stands for "Advanced Graphics Architecture", in comparison to OCS/ECS, which refers to the "Original/Enhanced Chip Set". AGA usually looks a bit better with support for 256 colors and was only available on the A4000 and A1200.
The problem I just had was with a game named "ZOOL". Its AGA version is so similar to the original release, that it initially boots up just fine, even on an older A500. Everything works: The loading screen, the codewheel prompt, even the main menu. Only then it completely crashes while trying to display a colorful fullscreen animation. Over the years, this must have mislead lots of Amiga fans, because I just found out most of the community's "ZOOL" disk images are actually mislabeled as "OCS/ECS", while they are in fact newer "AGA" versions. Yes, it even confused the SPS people! Took me a while to figure this one out.

The Commodore fan community is looking to restore the Commodore brand to its former glory.
What a treasure trove of fabulous pixelart!
I never had an Amiga, but growing with a 386 DOS machine this type of graphics is very familiar and nostalgic.

Launched in 1985 the Commodore Amiga boasted graphics capabilities that were unsurpassed for it's time. It featured an intricate collection of custom chips that enabled it to do things that, until then, had been impossible to achieve with other personal computers. This site is dedicated to graphics made with or for the Commodore Amiga home computer.

I'm going to change how enemies are loaded because:
- My system is already flexible enough to handle enemies without hardcoded number of frames per animation, and I want to use this feature.
- I want to use more than one enemy type in some rooms, my system is capable of that but I need to handle enemy animations dynamically.
After a few thinkering I'll add support for sprite sheets and a simple definition file to load this frames dynamically when needed.

Ever since I got my A1200 in 1993, I've been a huge fan of the Amiga! But the one thing that always bugged me about it was the distinction between PAL and NTSC. It's a computer! The system and especially the software shouldn't have to give a flying fart about its graphical output or the country you purchased it in!
I was just checking out the "Oh No - More Lemmings" demo and, even though it's just a 4-levels-demo, the game comes with an on-disk copy protection and also only runs on the NTSC chipset. On PAL, it just crashes on a black screen. Sigh....
