Has anyone used #beagleboard #beaglevahead to run #archlinux #archlinuxarm ? I am really curious what the #riscv space looks like with #linux in 2025.
Fuck #Beagleboard man, fuck those guys. #FuckBeagleboard

Make: DIY Projects and Ideas for MakersCan someone invite me on fosstodon? It's for a less personal account, around my AV projects (instead of creating custom hashtags):
A- TicTacSync, (formerly known as #atomicsynchronator ) a novel GNSS based timecode generator;
B- SpinClap, a device for in-situ lag measurement between camera audio and video streams (of ms order) see http://scnat.net/scnat/published/In+Cam+Audio+Lag
C- Flosscorder, an audio recorder based on the #BeagleBoard and its PRU https://www.diyaudio.com/community/threads/diy-portable-audio-recorder.194130/#post-2662561
btw, if you're interested in spending $$ to get #FreeBSD running sooner on the #beagleBoard #BeagleVFire, I'm available for contract work to make it happen.
I'm interested in getting all the interesting features on the board working, PCIe, gige, USB OTG, FPGA.
Getting the PCIe working might be a bit complicated as the PCIe interface is on the FPGA fabric, and often companies charge big $$ to get the code to make use of those features.

One day--I sincerely hope--#BeagleBoard will seriously consider de-Balkanizing development and centralizing---with official links!--at least the current stable.
Circe, my BeaglePlay, is now sitting pretty with a full update to slightly farther than current. As while trying to write the image to a card with baletcha, it failed.
Eight time. On six cards.

HackadayFirst OTA update deployed to a BeaglePlay board over Mender
Details coming real soon!
Returning to #BeagleBoneBlack and the #BeagleBoard now:
Specifically, those capes.
I'm going to sit down and try to go through the scripts but honestly, it's such a part of the specific Beagle portion of the entire OS infrastructure I'd probably need someone who works on the OS and Beagle itself to walk me through this.
Due to character limits, I'm going to start a new set of posts for this under #BeagleBoardCapes

Benjamin CabéI'm now kind of wondering why #BeagleBoard isn't more popular in light of the scarcity of #RaspberryPi boards.
At minimum the 4G version of BeagleBlack is better than the Pi Zero W when on SD and quite a bit better if you boot from eMMC. Overall setup price is higher for a BB but not that much as it's pretty much impossible to buy JUST a Zero W board but you have to buy a kit.
After working with it, two biggest problems I can see right now is the very outdated OS and kernel.
Dear #BeagleBoard Friends,
A suggestion: when one wants to flash from the flasher image, one does not actually have to do the entire login and change the boot file; it just does it the moment you install the sd card with the flasher image and boot.
Yes, I'm sure this is obvious, but only when you're not methodically following the Get Started Steps where it says IF YOU WANT TO FLASH CHANGE THIS AND REBOOT.
Summary: if you download the flash image to sd and boot from that, ti's auto.
So I grabbed a new SD card and started over with #BeagleBoard though I can't say the network was the only reason. I really didn't get a chance to explore the cloud9 ide.
The OTBR guide however prefers NetworkMangaer to connman. Well, I was looking forward to losing every battle to conman again, but if the OTBR wants NetworkManager, I'm just going to have to go with it.

#BeagleBoard I'm now playing mix and match between guides to see what works with #connman. My ethernet and wifi will both a.) connect on restart/boot and b.) retain their mac addresses or I will get NetworkManager on here somehow.
Note to #connman: my network is MAC filtered and IP reserved. No, you can't get in unless the MAC is recognized. For God's sake who hurt you?
