When artists imagine the future these days, it looks bleak and dark — and actually, fair enough. But for Boomers, it was colorful, shiny, and sometimes sexy — and that's at least partly down to the late Syd Mead, the concept artist who worked on "Star Trek: The Motion Picture," "Tron" and "Blade Runner," and also depicted futuristic vehicles and alien vistas, imbued with optimism rather than evil. This thing is impossible to photograph because of how reflective the glass is but it looks amazing in person. The color e-ink really looks so cool / very different from a grid of backlit pixels. Wish I could capture it better!

Rick Deckard, cacciatore di androidi, vorrebbe comprarsi una pecora vera, non quella cosa elettrica che ticchetta ogni mattino sul suo terrazzo. Allettato dalle taglie per il ritiro di sei androidi di ultima generazione, i Nexus 6, Deckard accetta l’incarico. I replicanti, intelligentissimi e veloci, sono fuggiti da Marte per far ritorno sulla Terra e mescolarsi agli umani. Riuscirà Deckard a terminare tutti i Nexus? I'm struggling my way through season 4 of #WestWorld which is a real cut-rate version of #TheMatrix, on a par with season 3 which was their cut-rate version of #BladeRunner. And I'm wondering why they bothered ripping off other, better films after making a really good job of actual WestWorld in season 1 & a passable attempt at #Memento in season 2.
Lack of confidence in their own abilities or the original material/concept? Distractibility? Did they lose the rights to everything but the name?
