Dwarf Cornel (Cornus suecica) is a member of the Dogwood family, rare in England, but common in Scottish uplands.. It grows on high moorland areas under taller bilberries and heather plants, so Grouse Moor "management' would see it off. Here it's on a slope underneath a popular climbers sandstone crag no more than 2 metres from a well-trodden climbers path, where it has thrived for many years, safe from gamekeepers "management" #PlantADay #Botany #Nature #Plant #Wildflower #BloomScrolling

Spoonleaf Sundew (German: Sonnentau) growing at the gravel edge of a pond.
A carnivorous plant that gets nutrients from insects it catches and dissolves with those drops since the soil they are growing in is poor in nutrients.
Great news! They are ripening right now! I tried the tips offered by you all and also the last site linked by @kellyromanych which was the most specific one for my needs. Even then I tried the 4 methods of: slight give, twist off tree to pick, smell and color. The ONE I tried (tip was try 1 and if too tart leave rest to try another day) had a very small amount of “give”. I was able to twist it off tree without dropping all the rest there. It was bright green but had a little yellow on one side, and after I picked it. stem end did smelly “limey”.
Son and I tried each half this key lime small lime by squeezing juice on a tortilla chip and a sprinkle of salt on top. (I was shown this by a Hispanic friend in Tucson at a full Mexican restaurant). We were happy. Now we’ll wait a day or 2 longer and pick only as we will use that day. I think since we extra watered this tree over the last 5 months is why there’s a bumper crop of limes.
Now, to check that link for the yellowing leaves issue (thanks @meganL )

Women, Plants, and the Power of a Name
Researchers uncover the real women behind botanical names, turning obscure eponyms into powerful stories of recognition and representation.

Questions: Mexican Lime tree fruit
When should I pick them?
Are these limes ripe when yellow?
Do I use them like regular limes?
FYI our old tree may be over 30 years old and likely had poor or limited care in the last 10 years. It has been dying and lost about 1/3 the tree in the last 3 years. In extreme heat the leaves quickly go to yellow or yellow green. But the live branches are producing the most and largest limes in three years. Help! Need advice. #Botany #Arborists #Tree #CitrisTree #Arizona #Phoenix #Limes #Citris

We have a Drosera intermedia in amongst the rotundifolia. It's the plant in the center of the photo, with spoon-shaped leaves on longer stalks. The growth form of the plant is more hemispherical versus the flat rosettes of rotundifolia. The two species co-occur in nature and can produce hybrids (Drosera × beleziana).

The same family as harebell, albeit not the same genus - Ivy-leaved Bellflower for the #WildfowerHour #HarebellChallenge seen on #Dartmoor at the start of the week. Tiny flowers which I could easily have walked past without noticing them. Took a while to find one growing near a rock I could lean on to get the close-up without having to kneel in a boggy bit. #Devon #Bloomscrolling #botany #plants #flowers #wildflowers #photography
Because of the #HarebellChallenge I went to a nearby #Wiltshire #WildlifeTrust reserve which I expected to have them, Clout's Wood. It has a nice chalky grassland hillside which I'm sure I've seen them on before. Not a hint of them. However the Woolly Thistle population was having a good year and there were hundreds of those. Incredible things. #WildflowerHour #Wiltshire #Bloomscrolling #botany #plants #flowers #wildflowers #photography
There was supposed to be a #HarebellChallenge for #WildflowerHour this week. Harebells are a bit tricky to find in #Swindon, but the two common Campanula species the grow on walls are everywhere in Old Town. Well, usually. This year's been so dry it was hard to find one in flower. Did find this one, Trailing Bellflower, but Wall Bellflower eluded me completely. #Wiltshire #Bloomscrolling #botany #plants #flowers #wildflowers #photography
Another find from #Dartmoor, growing in a bog pool by a stream. I think it's Pond Water Crowfoot, but according to my book ruling out other similar species would mean getting a lot closer to the plant than I could without swimming. There are limits to what I'll do to ID a plant. #WildflowerHour #Devon #Bloomscrolling #botany #plants #flowers #wildflowers #photography
Four finds from #Dartmoor at the start of the week, all of which I've seen there before. Lesser Skullcap, Marsh St John's Wort, Bog Pimpernel and Creeping Forgetmenot. #WildflowerHour #Devon #Bloomscrolling #botany #plants #flowers #wildflowers #photography
