Helen Keller ServicesOne of my big Accessible Enhancements to Voiceover for IOS and Mac os for WWDC for 2025 is Multi Line Access to the Monarch Dynamic Tactile Display.
This will open up so much more functionality across apps and websites, and make reading electronic Braille in books and newspapers 10 times (smile) more enjoyable.
Couple this with the iOS drawing app, brings access to maps etc to that extra level that I've wanted for a long time.

Good night! #3GoodThings
1. Finished a chapter in Braille!
2. Didn’t do as well as I did yesterday but still got all my fitness rings closed and my steps in.
3. Hubs is off the next two days.
Bonus: I finished The Cross-Country Quilters this morning and started The Runaway Quilt. Hubs and I finished the book we were listening to and it was odd. Not a book I would recommend.
Sleep well and may your dreams be out of this world. 🫶

1. My fitness rings for the day are closed with flying colors! Move (calorie burn) 493%, Exercise: 450%, Stand: 125%. I managed a step count of 15,152! I’m quite pleased.
2. It was a gorgeous day and the windows were open all day long. Most are closed and we will close the last ones and turn the heat on before going to bed. It’ll only be in the 40s in the morning. Brrrr.
3. Read a little Braille today and worked on my loom knit hand towel while listening to a book.
Sleep well and may your dreams be out of this world. 🫶

Danke Braille.

He is in the ninth grade and has a passion for engineering…
ForbesAnyone who is blind, or who has worked with the blind, knows how expensive our technology can be. This couldn't be more true with relation to braille displays. Even the cheapest costs at least $799, and it's already behind the newest in that line, at $899. This is the Orbit Reader 20 and 20+. Now, a student in India wants to change that by creating a display that is truly affordable (under $50)! Please pass this on, so that we can give him greater recognition within the blind community. Even if it costs a bit more than he initially suspected it would, there is no excuse for the $2,000 to $5,000 average price of such technology when cheaper alternatives can be designed! He is determined to bring this to market, so let's help him do it and show our appreciation for his hard work on this life-changing project!

@disability I’m now putting together an email to send to RNIB about the cuts to the #Braille transcription service, thinking about how it’s helped me in the past and how I was looking to use it again because I’m finding I can’t tolerate reading on my electronic Braille display for long periods any more due to a repetitive strain injury. I’m finding paper Braille much kinder to my hands and fingertips but that the Braille library has a very limited backlist. There are some authors I just prefer to read in Braille. If you want to send your own story and opinions, there’s some pointers on the website here: https://saveourbraille.wordpress.com/get-involved/

And it is especially amazing when you have a computer which doesn't have any sound at all, unless you plug an audio-dongle or an audio-interface into it!.

Good morning! Wishing you all a beautiful day filled with sunshine, love, laughter, high energy and positivity. I plan on doing a load of laundry today, I have to! Other than the usual chores, I’ll listen to more of The Quilter’s Apprentice and maybe read some Braille later.
Be kind to yourself and those around you, hug tight those you love most and smile, you are loved and appreciated! 🫶

Does anyone know if there is bookstore in Sydney or the Central Coast which stocks books in braille?
For all in the UK - please sign and share this letter set up by Connor Scott-Gardner to show your support for Braille transcription services run by RNIB which are being cut | “RNIB has scrapped its free personal braille transcription service, leaving blind people to cover the cost themselves. Large print is still free, this isn't equality! Sign the open letter urging RNIB to reverse this decision”
