#CentOS #FlockToFedora #FedoraFlockSponsor #CentOSStream #Linux #OpenSource
Thank you to @centos for being a gold sponsor for Flock!
So many CentOS contributors overlap with Fedora that you never know who is working on both projects. We're grateful that they take the time to start a change in Fedora Linux to receive it upstream later, rather than making changes directly in CentOS Stream for everything. :)

#centos stream is a terribly limited distribution and until recently they weren't even offering a decent upgrade process. now there's hope:

wiki.almalinux.orgThe install of @centos Stream went great. I had a few issues with configuration but that had zero to do with CentOS and everything to do with my lack of understanding of a few things. All issues have been resolved and CentOS is running on my small home server. This is all pretty exciting, if I'm being honest.
New from the blog: Initial CentOS Support for RISC-V:

I know that @centos Stream tracks just ahead of RHEL. Is anyone running this on their server? I'm thinking about moving away from Debian on the server and wondering if @almalinux would be a better choice or, maybe, take advantage of the RH Developer Program and install RHEL? I've not worked with servers in a while (many years) so this will be a good learning experience.
@9to5linux @almalinux Is this like #CentOS now days?a
EPEL 10 launched a little over five months ago. Today, RHEL 10 was released. In that time EPEL 10 has grown to 17,756 packages (from 5,451 source packages) built by 249 different Fedora packagers.
On behalf of the EPEL Steering Committee, I’m happy…
FosstodonHaving a blast so far at #RedHatSummit ! I gave a talk on Community Day yesterday - The Year of the Enterprise Linux Desktop - that will likely return in a slightly revised and updated form in July at the next #CentOS #CentOSShowcase (thanks for the interest all the useful questions, audience!) and am co-presenting two more talks today, on CentOS at Meta (with Davide Cavalca) and the new #CentOS_ProposedUpdates SIG (with @neal ). See you there!

www.youtube.com@stefano This was also #xfs. I am aware that when it has problems, it *really* has problems lol. But, I've also used XFS on #rhel and #centos 6 and 7 and #Debian without any issues. You are probably correct that it was #suse.
When I ran Tumbleweed and Leap 15 on an older laptop, I purposely went with ext4 and it was unquestionably a smoother experience.
Just curious, which version of openSUSE did you use?
Say hello to our new #CentOS mascot, the quokka.
The State of #OpenSource in #2025? Honestly, it's a mess but you knew that already
Good news: everyone's using it. Bad news: have you seen how they're using it?
#RedHat seems to have alienated a lot of people by killing #CentOS – not merely from its own offerings but potentially from the greater family of distributions. Although #RHEL is still significant, survey did not show an obvious trend towards Alma, or Rocky, or CentOS Stream – let alone a direct move to RHEL.
