I really like his ship of the imagination. Load up my cats, hang a few plants, and fuck off on out of here. I like the spartan layout. Just a console, and lots of seating room. He didn't mention armaments or cloaking, but I'd probably want one or both of those.

We Installed a GIANT Space Dome on a Mountain!

We drove from Melbourne to Toowoomba… via Coonabarabran (because apparently we can’t help turning a dome install into a full-blown road trip).

Stopped in Coonabarabran for a site visit on a future project — then headed to Mt Kent Observatory to install a brand new 4m Scopedome.

There were telescopes, late nights, too many servo pies, and one absolutely massive dome. Just another casual week in astro-land.

What Happens If You Press All the Buttons at Perth Observatory?

I visited Perth Observatory during the day (because apparently stars aren’t required for an existential crisis) — and ended up getting a personal tour from Paul Wadham, the actual Operations Manager. Legend.

He showed me antique telescopes, answered my weird space questions with alarming patience, and introduced me to an atomic clock that I may or may not now be emotionally dependent on.

No stars. Just me, Paul, and the unstoppable march of time.

Happy to see at least two ruby-throated #hummingbirds visiting the backyard regularly over the past week, in previous summers we’ve only occasionally seen one around as a summer resident. Given the dark spots on the throat I think this one may be a juvenile male.
