In times of multicrises people are so overwhelmed with #doomscrolling and dystopian #narratives, that they get helpless or too depressed to see that humans can do something to change the world as it is at the moment.
To get into action is so important.

And while my main computer is a laptop, the screen is mostly dead so it's been years since it left the desktop docking station (with two monitors and several terabytes of attached storage).
So maybe "Phone" was a better answer for quantity, or "Desktop" was a better answer for quality.

When I was born six decades ago, many countries were still under colonial rule, homosexuality was a jailable offense, women were shut out of most careers (Black women far more so), men were legally allowed to rape their wives (in most countries), and nuclear annihilation was imminent.
What white liberals are mourning is losing the ability to stay in their (our?) bubbles.
I had no idea the collapse of modern society would be so overwhelmingly characterised by denial, global delusion and gaslighting.
But then I'm just a naïve potato.

In an eight-minute video² he explains quite plausbily how doomscrolling, using social media, watching and reading the news changes our perception of humankind. We only see all the bad things happening, which makes us quite susceptible to being persuaded of human vileness. On the other hand, if you believe in the goodness of humanity, so often you are dismissed as this naïve person who doesn’t have a realistic view of the world.
But Bregman, after researching the matter, comes to the conclusion that humans are not as evil and raw as they are made out to be. An example: One of the astonishing discoveries from the second World War is that only 15 to 25 per cent of the American soldiers actually fired their guns. They had to be trained and brainwashed to be able to be more ‘effective’ during the Vietnam War.
Another valid point he’s making is that science is the only self-correcting system that we have that sort of criticises itself and then develops and becomes better […]

@medigoth No offense. I find comments like these from the first 2 paragraphs very valid but eventually cheapen as time goes on / self-defeating IF people don't reply to others towards actual friendship.
(regardless of what others like #Trump etc are doing... #friendship / open to small co-operations).
Because the other half of more which feeds Trump etc is people not able to do friendships / communication at all and excuses like "busy" or "don't trust over the internet" or "I don't know you" all covers for the lack of #friendships and trying. People lost it basically - the practice simply to spiral out to almost as many people as possible or just 1 a week. Yeah sure do keep eye on them too and not just trust anyone but not near-0 trust which I believe is the case now and compounds / secures the self-prison.
(NOTE: This might not be you especially if I haven't commented already on your quite-good stuff... or if I haven't directly messaged which I probably have since I'm following you and do that with *every single person*).
I wanted to ask what you were getting back work on which you might think is better work (not to crituique (unless you ask for it) but also see what the professional / good people think is good / better than "upgrading" brains / mentality that I / a kind of #FreeSchool aims to do with people using them (not developing #Tech for example but developing people).
So anyway keep in mind it's mostly 1-way here on #Fediverse (from all my measured real-life tests, and 0-reply posts) to simply talk to advance some of the non-doom focused stuff.)
So you have the choice now with the more personal do-whatever-you-can-with-your-own-stuff-BUT-WITH-OTHERS here and now...
Otherwise #doomscrolling it is unless people actually accept imperfection in people and 
WORK TOGETHER 
on something / almost anything >60% mutual or even random to be honest as long as someone cared enough to reply to you...
(bookmark this- you'll need it unless you can keep 2-way communication going next time you feel like writing the 1st paragraph... communication).
I also DON'T look less at people stuff now if they can't communicate and add notes on their account if I've tried and waht I said.
People really need to get off their list of #excuses and have #time to write x10 posts about Trump/Musk/Zuckerberg/Bezos/etc or own long posts complaining, but not enough for a paragraph back to a real person or even fan and what they can see from their posts in others...

Plus their #Website being built to mandate #JavaScript isn't very "respecting" of me as a potential user.
I think people can get a better experience buying a #degoogled #Fairphone with #eOS and just put #RelaunchX as an #eInk-optimized #launcher on it and have a better option.
But I guess given #ForProfitHealthcare in the #USA is expensive I can see why a lot of people would rather buy such a device and sell their old one than seek therapy if they are susceptible to shitty patterns that #developers harness to maximize #screentime and #revenue.
Can't have #doomscrolling or #microtransactions if it doesn't support #NSAbook's #apps or shitty #PayToLoose #games...
I do however acknowledge that there is a #market for #smol & #sleek "#StupidPhones" or rather compact #Smartphones and I do want to see more competition for it.
What I do have to say is that #MKBHD acknowledges that he isn't the target audience and "that's fine"...
I just think that requiring people to sign up to some account just to be able to add/remove #Apps is a major #nope in my book.
I stayed off #GooglePlay for longer than it's being called like that and their "#lightOS" is most likely some tightly locked-down Android...
It's just an insultingly high pricetag for < $200 internals and the best feature they have isn't even the phone but offering a "no frills" plan which seems okay (by #USA standards!) but still...
I think people would be more accepting if it was a $299 or even $399 device, but at a price of a @monocles #phone whilst being way less versatile it's just not worth it.
Cuz it's not even a super "secure" device or offers something like a "concierge service" where the device price is artifically high to filter out average #WageWorkers without much disposable income...
