Doesburg in the #Dutch province of #Gelderland. Visiting the Lalique glass museum in this quaint town on the IJssel river. The Netherlands has a lot more to offer than Amsterdam. Bonus, the east is more relaxed, friendly and lot less busy.

It's a map of the tiny proportion of people that are actively trying to learn a new language.

And it's aspirational -- people are learning the language of the places they want to long-term visit or live. So those Nordic people want to go somewhere *warm*.

The #Netherlands certainly teaches English well -- 90% of the #Dutch are fluent. I suspect that if you could see language #2 it would also be Spanish.

An airline that advertises with people on a #bike must be #Dutch #biketooter in other news: I flew from Montreal to the Netherlands and the plane was 80% empty.

I always walk briefly into the Albert Heijn grocery store at Amsterdam #Schiphol #airport just to see new products when I arrive from oversees. It is bigger than a ‘grab and go’ and offers a lot of variety. As a #transit hub where #train, #bus and #plane meet, it is a great location for an extended convenience store. There was a line up for self service coffee too. The #Dutch #stroopwafels are always a popular item. Downside, it is all prepacked.

This is a #Dutch #train station converted into a restaurant. It is 200 meters from my sister’s house. Now she (me) has to bike 6 km to the next station at the southend of #Haarlem. Result, more driving. I can hear the intercity trains racing by very frequently. The bus goes every 15 minutes but not to the station 6 km away. So unfortunate. Also 20C tomorrow. #transit

Getting on towards two years in #DenHaag and I still find some mysteries in my grocery shopping.

Particularly, "bloem" and "meel".
