I tried to find the problem, but no luck. Other problem is that it doesn't show anything in the journal or #systemd systemctl status.
I thought that #EasyEffects was the culprit, but no, I uninstalled it and the problem persists.
I am trying to make Easyeffects work on all my audio sinks on Linux but with no success. Only the Easyeffects sink has the effects applied, this makes the app useless for me. I need multiple sinks, not only one.
Update on the #ThinkPad T480 speakers. I've just found this repo with a few IRS files designed for use with #EasyEffects on Linux. Happily, they also work work #JamesDSP.

Importing into JamesDSP is easy. Copy the relevant .irs
file to ~/.config/jamesdsp/irs/
, go to the Convolver tab, select the file and click Enable convolver.
The speakers are still bad, trust me. But now they almost feel like they're responding to sub-120Hz frequencies, and that they're playing through a slightly more roomy tin can.
Quando passai a #linux #debian mai mi sarei aspettato di ritrovarmi uno studio audio dentro al PC. Tutto perfetto, tutto bellissimo, tutto #opensource
#easyeffects #linux #linuxaudio do you think you could have a volume slider or some mechanism when switching output interfaces to protect against instant 100% full volume headphones?
RIP my ears figuring out how to switch audio output.
At least with #pulseaudio or #pavucontrol there's a slider right there and you can quickly turn it down if you are fast enough instead of ripping them off your face.
Im fortunate enough to have had the open back kind, I can imagine closed would be even more crazy. Que Darth Vader from Back to the Future.

https://autoeq.app/ is a way to get a great sound. It's an open source project that has calibrated profiles for most brands and types (wireless, wired, in-ear, over-ear).
You can stack effects after it too for more base, an exciter, etc.
It works on Linux using EasyEffects (https://flathub.org/apps/com.github.wwmm.easyeffects)... and it's available for other OSes (and apps where OS support isn't available) too.

Many moons ago I covered a neat audio tool called PulseEffects, which made it easy to modify the sound output of any app on a global or per-app basis. As you may infer from the name, PulseEffects was built around and designed for PulseAudio. Most major Linux distributions have switched from PulseAudio to PipeWire for their audio handling. Enter Easy Effects, a successor to PulseEffects that sports a modern GTK4 interface, and an expanded set of features that enable to function as a powerful audio effects processor for PipeWire applications. It offers an equalizer, limiter, and compressor (among others) and

OMG! UbuntuAlso useful for #Linux desktops watching remote events like #FOSDEM (and audio in general):
It's an app for #PipeWire providing a toolbox of audio modifications you can stack to do noise reduction, adjust an equalizer, use a compressor, do echo cancellation, and run through a speech processor, and more.
It's on #Flathub @ https://flathub.org/apps/details/com.github.wwmm.easyeffects
For watching something, you'll want to adjust "output" > "effects" and add some of the mentioned effects.
(It can also adjust input.)
@xerz #EasyEffects works so much better than everything I've tried before when I was still using #PulseAudio
For that alone I'm very happy that I made the switch to #PipeWire
#EasyEffects fully works again with latest #PipeWire release
The CPU resource usage problematic seems also to be fixed.
The latency remains high but it could be an issue with my old laptop.
I setup EasyEffects to implement the HiFiScan EQ curve, but now easyeffects is in my list of pulse devices, but should never be the default device, so I had to update my pulse audio switch script to account for that.
