Victoire du jour : j’ai décapé le plastique devenu collant* avec le temps de ma liseuse et j’ai réussi à la réveiller.
C’est reparti pour un tour, j’espère ! Les vacances commencent bien

I like reading #ebooks on both my phone and an #ereader. I used to read on Kindle because it kept the books in sync, regardless of where I bought them.
But now I use #KOReader on my #Kobo ereader and my phone, and it also syncs them, but with the added benefit that Amazon doesn't track my reading.
I can recommend it.
I’ve been reading ebooks since about 2010, and for…
Robin PhillipsSo, a while back was asking about an alternative to Kindle/Amazon ecosystem. Went for a PocketBook Inkpad 3 #ereader on which I installed #KOreader and I'm using a #selfhosted #kavita instance to manage my online library. On top of that I found a number of #drmfree stores and publishers.
It feels So much better to have been able to leave the more and more restrictive boundaries and, even more importantly, to actually OWN the #books!

New post on my website, timed for Indie Bookstore Day:
These days when I look for a specific eBook I'll often check the author's and publisher's websites first, and see if it's available from them directly. Or if they have a preferred source.
Here are some places I've bought, borrowed, or otherwise legally acquired e-books from: https://hyperborea.org/reviews/books/finding-ebooks/

Kelson Reviews StuffOnyx BOOX Go 7 Gen II and Go Color 7 eReaders run Android 13 and support stylus input
Onyx BOOX is bringing stylus support to its 7 inch eBook readers, starting with the new Onyx BOOX Go Color 7 (Gen II) and Onyx BOOX Go 7.
As the name suggests, the model with a color display is a modest update over last year’s Onyx BOOX Go Color 7. The only obvious changes I see in the spec sheet are stylus support and an Android 13-based operating system (up from Android 12), but it’s […]

I performed some overdue de-enshittification yesterday evening. Worked like a charm. Currently playing with KOreader (it’s good!). I followed this tutorial: https://kindlemodding.org/jailbreaking/WinterBreak/ #Winterbreak #Kindle #Jailbreak #Ereader #ByeBezos

This eBook reader has an 8 inch foldable E Ink display
Smartphones with foldable displays have been around for years. A handful of PC makers have also launched laptops. So what’s next? Foldable eReaders, apparently.
The MooInk V is an eBook reader with an 8 inch E Ink Gallery color ePaper display that can fold in half like a… well, like a book. Developer by Readmoo and E Ink, it’s the first device of its type and it debuted this week at the […]

Good e-Reader - The latest news on e-readers, ebooks & audiobooksI think I’m going to love this flow:
1) buy book on Bookshop.org to support my local bookstore.
2) download ePub to my Mac.
3) add ePub to Calibre library.
4) transfer ePub to Kindle.
Adding https://standardebooks.org (The Standard Ebooks) OPDS feed to KoReader:

standardebooks.orgJust ordered a Kobo Libra Colour so now the only money I’m paying that asshole Bezos is for a couple of S3 buckets that I haven’t had time to move off of AWS.
Very much looking forward to the time when his fascist collaborator ass doesn’t get a single euro cent from me.
(Another plus: Kobo works with Overdrive and I checked and Dublin libraries support it so you should be able to check out library books directly on the device. And I’m quite looking forward to a little bit of colour and the notetaking features.)
