Gas prices in Canada are surging to remind everyone that the cost of gas is burning the forests of CANADA in a massive Climate Wildfire Catastrophe.

Here's two pictures, one is a screen grab of Canadian oil prices right now, and the other picture is a screen grab of ciffc.net, the site for all wildfire fighting across rhe country.

It would be unforgivable to buy a gas burning engine. A sin, moral failure, stupidity, crime against your family.

No I doubt I will ever do enough driving to justify a level 2 charger in the garage but it would be nice to get those nice inexpensive electrons during the middle of the night.

Home again. Hoorah!
A slow trip, as expected, back home from Ardnamurchan, but we took a slightly different route, via the Coran ferry this time. Goth Leo the #EV loves ferries, so inevitably as we arrived we were simply waved aboard with no waiting at all.
Absolutely bucketing down most of the way & strong headwinds on the last two legs of the journey, but we took the chance to do a good monthly shop in Dingwall.
Wonderful to see our friends again, & now time to settle down to count blessings.

Looks like I may need to sell my standard/manual car. I love gear shifting but my left ankle doesn’t. Anybody have a recommendation for a good EV? #Cars #EV

We've had our Nissan Leaf #EV for 5 years and love it. Probably saved $8-10k in fuel. Only expense: tires. But a trip down to California was incredibly frustrating - not much infrastructure for the ChaDeMo charger. I recommend a vehicle with CCS charger; a lot more accessible.

Congress want to tax your already-owned #EV $250 annually claiming it’s a road fee, rather than put a tax on electric charging like a gas station. Regardless of where and how often you drive. No other tax exists for an already-owned personal item. The Big Bollocks Bill is anything but beautiful.

Yes, and we charged from a three-pin 13A socket in the garage while we waited for Octopus to install our #charger.

However, there are risks (and, with your electrical knowledge, you'll be more familiar with them than I am). It's really important for anyone attempting this to make sure that the mains socket doesn't get hot when you charge the #EV. Check it after ten minutes and again after 30, simply by resting your hand on the plug top. If it's still cool at that point, it should be all right. If not, I've read that repeatedly turning the switch on and off (with nothing plugged in) and repeatedly inserting and removing the plug (while the switch is turned off) can sometimes clean up the contacts enough to lower the impedance and solve the problem.

My specific experience:

I can charge at about 1.7kW using a granny cable. I get 3.5–5 miles per kWh, depending on the season, the driving style and the journey type. I usually estimate that I can charge at 6MPH. Using our 7kW #charger, I estimate that I can charge at 25MPH.

These figures are conservative. I can usually do a little better.

One important benefit of a charger is that it lets me use a time-of-use tariff that costs just 7p/kWh to charge the #EV overnight. That mean my fuel costs no more than 2p/mile. If I used a granny cable, I'd miss out on the special tariff and pay almost four times that much. Installing our charger cost just under £1000, and I calculate that it'll pay for itself after about 16,000 miles. That doesn't take into account the times when we would otherwise have had to use the petrol car because the EV wouldn't have been charged in time. Case in point: I put 25kW into the battery overnight and Mrs Wife was able to drive the car away at 8am today.

Is there a transcript or summary for the video? I'd rather spend three minutes reading than 32 minutes watching.

Love charging my car in the middle of the day when my rooftop panels are producing more than the house can use so the go juice is FREE. It's a nuclear fusion-powered car.

An EV won’t kill you when you forget to turn it off.

Two people died from carbon monoxide poisoning on Saturday in Gatineau, Que., according to the local fire department.

A car was running in the garage when officers arrived at the scene, police said.

I've been charging my #F150Lightning on a standard North American household wall socket in my garage for over 2 years. For daily running around and longer weekend trips, it's more than enough. #EV #QT mas.to/@TechConnectify/1146884
