So I watched The 100 S3 D3 tonight, and am about to watch Paper Moon (1973), directed by Peter Bogdanovich, starring Ryan O'Neal, Madeline Kahn, John Hillerman and Tatum O'Neal. It's a famous movie you guys, set in the Depression.

Critics often think Michael Bay doesn't give a damn about characters, but how can you believe that when everything in the film is shut deliberately to be from a perspective of a character? Michael Bay is Lars Von Trier of action. Lars uses strange chaotic camera work and weird editing choices to elevate the emotion on screen and M...

What'll it be Mike Honey, a question with a question mark at the end, or a space and an exclamation mark!?.
Not subtle but does a lot in a couple of images.

Been watching the Claudette Colbert collection on the Criterion Channel. Most of them are silly romances of varying degrees of quality. She’s fantastic, but they can’t all be winners.
Started watching Imitation of Life (1934) and it’s fantastic. A widowed Colbert takes in a black single mother Louise Beavers. Her daughter is light skinned and “passing”.
They eventually open a pancake shop together, but the daughter struggles with racism. Remarkable performances.
A Complete Unknown is hitting VOD sites in the US next week. And streaming on Disney+ soon. Hopefully it’ll follow for UK VOD sites in about a month. Instant buy for me. Fab film. #Film #ACompleteUnknown https://www.hollywoodreporter.com/movies/movie-news/watch-stream-bob-dylan-film-a-complete-unknown-online-1236138338/

The Hollywood ReporterOk ... somehow I missed this movie for the last ... two decades !?
It was really great ! 6/5 !!
In 1960, 16 newly independent African countries, including Congo, became part of the United Nations. In 1961, Patrice Lumumba, the first democratically elected leader of Congo, was assassinated. In the intervening six months, jazz greats like Louis Armstrong, Nina Simone, Duke Ellington and Dizzy Gillespie traveled to Congo to perform, not realizing that they were acting as a smokescreen for the coup d'etat in which Lumumba would be killed, and in which the Belgian and U.S. governments may have been complicit.
"Soundtrack to a Coup d'Etat," a documentary from Belgian artist and director Johan Grimonprez, tells that story, and it has been nominated for an Oscar. Robert Daniels wrote a review of the movie when it was released last year. "It’s difficult to watch Grimonprez’s intuitive telling of history without feeling the sinister truth of world history: the major powers of the world only see countries like the Congo as an exploitable resource, not as a sovereign state," he says.

Terror of MechaGodzilla's 40th Anniversary: The Making of Titans & Tragedies
From 2015, the article is still as informative this year, on the 50th anniversary. I'll always have a soft spot for 1975 Mechagodzilla.

Conclave is back in my local Omniplex from Friday. Due to its BAFTA win no doubt.
It’s been a poor start to the year film wise. The only film that’s got me to into the cinema was A Complete Unknown. Twice.
The only thing showing from Friday that I might want to see is We Live In Time, which is in its third week in theatres I think.
