With Microsoft's investment in Three Mile Island I was really hoping that might mean the San Onofre "Nuclear Boobs" might get some love. Sadly, I just learned that they've been decommissioning that plant for over a decade, and are 60% complete. The domes'll be gone in a few years. Bummer.

The lead-time for Renewables is the reason it kills olde worlde traditionale things like Coal and Fission.

You can build wind plants almost tomorrow. Solar is very slightly behind.

Storage is a bit slower because the tech is settling-out - but it's arriving.

The lead time on Coal is a decade because of the infrastructure required, and decades plural for Fission because it's like threading a camel train through the eye of a needle.
