In this video I show the process of extending a game world and how tedious it might be. The video is featuring @RowdyJoe who's Mastodon account you need to follow to sign the current petition.

blenderdumbass . orgI recently updated an old flash game that I put on Newgrounds more than 15 years ago, because why not. There were 48 levels locked behind the defunct transaction system Mochi Coins, so I just unlocked everything.

ХабрCleaned up my Mip Explorer tool and released it on GitHub: https://github.com/HaukeThiessen/Mip-Explorer
The clean up was mostly about adding exceptions, so it now handles any problems with the processed files more gracefully. Still, please drop me a line if you try it and find any problems. #gamedev

Release notes specific to the Master System target:
Fascynuje mnie niesłabnąca popularność gier wieloosobowych i otwartych światów wśród twórców — mimo że to właśnie te projekty są najtrudniejsze i najkosztowniejsze w realizacji.
I wrote a postmortem for my Radial Menu Jam project. The game is a shitpost but this article isn't.

Random little #GameDev tip. When I was making this burnable bag one of the challenges was trying to figure out how to sell the appearance of it burning.
One of the details that *massively* improved it was shrinking the model along the height axis. Trivial to do, and for some types of objects it feels completely right.
I have a deep appreciation for these little details that have an disproportionate impact. If anyone reading this has some examples of their own I'd love to see them!
Half an hour late! Tonight! It is the return of TOOLSday on Sunday. I'm going to be improving my open source sprite editor for Godot Engine. QuickAtlas
Come say hi!
Live Gamedev - TOOLSday on Sunday!
TwitchTonight's #gamedev stream will be the triumphant return of TOOLSday on Sunday. I'll be working on QuickAtlas, my open source sprite sheet editor plugin for Godot Engine.
Goals: add grid snapping, restrict sprite rectangles to the sprite sheet and port the whole thing to GDScript.
Shooter game mechanic/aesthetic idea I just had. The player character has a bunch of holsters in various places, pouches etc. Inventory is put into each by the player in animations.
Part of the idea is aesthetic. Each weapon has a place to go. But also the idea is to have the player pick and choose what equipment they'll bring for a particular mission from among options at their base and what can be scavenged from enemies. Only stuff that fits in pouches/holsters can be carried
I'm in a strange holding pattern, waiting for my next book to launch, waiting for inspiration to build for the next story, the next game. It's odd. I have ideas, but I've done so much work recently I can't settle and start anything new.

I missed #ScreenshotSaturday yesterday due to chaotic travelling, but I wanted to share how much of a glow up my little game has had over the last 9 weeks
