I just realized that this perfect quote from the end of The Great Gatsby describes BFFs Elon Musk and He Who Shall Not Be Named, perfectly.

This is a 1930's French vintage girdle pattern. I'm using coutil and power net for the elastic bits. Such a weird hybrid - closes with a busk, but no lacing.

Decided to go with wide allowances and double checking fit.

Oh poo.

Working on that 1930's corset/girdle right now. Single layer, with 3/8" lapped seams.

Trying to figure out if I should cut wider allowances, just because. I've done muslin, but now second guessing myself.

Single layer coutil, lightly boned. All boning channels done with casing, not seams.

Maybe I'll just flat fell rather than lap? So it's easier to make additional fit adjustments? Or fit then tear apart then lap?

@preya @wiewiordev good to know, thanks, after initial testing, I got the #gatsby site running but ran into plugin errors right away. Figured it’d only get harder to maintain as the site grew in complexity . I need something with same flexibility and dynamic capabilities (and #React based) as #GatsbyJS so I decided to switch over to #NextJS . Btw for anyone else researching, #Eleventy seemed like a VERY easy option for a simple static blog

My coping mechanism is #sewing so check out the in-progress #1920s coat that I'm making for a #Gatsby themed party (if I don't have covid). I made my own pocket pattern since the #McCallsPattern didn't have any.

IMHO the only competitive advantage of JS frameworks is built-in code splitting, besides that they feel like reinventing the wheel most of the time (lookin' at u, #gatsby)!

@zachleat I really hate to say this, because I'm acquainted with some of the people involved, but GatsbyJS was/is a tire fire to actually work with.

I wrote a blog post on my experience, and it wasn't pretty. I tried like heck to be as open minded and fair as I could.
