Effective moderation of social media to curb genocidal content

"The 2020-2022 Tigray war is reported to be the deadliest armed conflict of the 21𝑠𝑡 century, with an estimated 600 to 800,000 documented deaths and more than 100 thousand victims of rape as a weapon of war. Social media platforms were instrumental in spreading genocidal content during the conflict, and failure to effectively moderate hateful content resulted in the murder of civilians. This work investigates the expertise and processes required to effectively moderate such genocidal content, and compares these findings to the expertise and processes prioritized by social media platforms."

De berichtgeving over de situatie in #Gaza laat zoveel te wensen over. Er wordt op geen enkele wijze gesproken over #genocide, etnische zuivering of het definitief verdrijven van de bevolking in Gaza.

Dit terwijl alle signalen overduidelijk zijn. Die waren er een jaar geleden al, die zijn op alle vlakken bevestigd, zowel in de praktijk als door de woordelijke uitlatingen van hooggeplaatste politici en militairen in #Israel

De Nederlandse regering, de EU en de verschillende EU-lidstaten hebben nog één kans om een verder drama te voorkomen (als dat wat zich al heeft voltrokken). Dat kan alleen door consequente acties en niet door retoriek en mooie woorden.

Er is Israel tot op heden geen enkele materiële steun onttrokken ondanks diens optreden in Gaza. Als dit zo blijft, zal ook diens optreden in Gaza niet veranderen, dat is materieel te onderbouwen met de feiten van afgelopen jaar.
