Hacker News Honestly, the open standards internet is still there, beneath the surface. 
I've got my user generated content here on the #fediverse, my spoken word content in #Castamatic powered by open #RSS feeds and #Podcasting20, I read my articles in @NetNewsWire, again from regular ole RSS, and I can chat on #IRC or @matrix. It may not be the mainstream any more unfortunately, but it's still alive and going, protect it.

2: #impostos - PS diz que as suas medidas custam metade as da #AD. Programa do CH é anunciado 5ª (mas será que vai dizer neste debate o que defende em matéria de impostos?) CH quer descer #IRC.
3: #imigração - PS resolve o problema como? Apoia a via verde que a AD implementou agora. CH acha mal a via verde, em vez disso quer quotas para imigração, e expulsar do país quem faz crimes. PS diz que já tivemos quotas e não funcionaram. E quem comete crimes deve cumprir pena, mandá-los lá para fora não garante cumprimento de pena.
4: #ética - #Ventura crítica Montenegro. #PS diz que se há quem não pode dar lições de ética e que não tem autoridade moral é o CH, que tem pessoas condenadas e o grupo parlamentar com mais processos.
@defanor AFAIK there is no fully bidirectional channel<->MUC bridge, but Biboumi will allow XMPP users to join an IRC channel and will have a mostly-native feel for both sides (/whois and some channel operator things from the XMPP side are slightly awkward). It's maintained at https://codeberg.org/poezio/biboumi
I've been using it for years and even gave up irssi in favor of poezio+biboumi
You can set up a dedicated instance for your ircd and let users join via e.g. #support@irc.prosody.tld
XMPP to IRC gateway
Codeberg.orgAre there tools (ideally working and maintained) for bridging individual #IRC channels with #XMPP MUCs in such a way that every user shows up as an actual participant (the gateway acting as server/service at least on the IRC side, spawning many users efficiently), rather than a bot prefixing relayed messages with user names? Particularly for InspIRCd and Prosody (both running locally, with an ability to configure them if needed).
As a similar project's example, there is TeleServ for such a bridging between IRC and Telegram, but I am failing to find that for IRC and XMPP. It should not be hard to write from scratch, but I would guess that they should exist already.

- ActivityPub/Mastodon: Divulgación tecnológica y web. En ocasiones comunicación asíncrona con amigos.
- Gemini: Publicaciones de todo tipo. La internet inconformista y libre.
- Telegram: Comunicación en tiempo real con amigos, familiares y algunas comunidades.
Cuando profundizas en cada una de ellas, entiendes su propósito y cómo se complementan entre sí.
Tal vez por accidente, o por consecuencia, las puedo consumir con #emacs.

1) #IRC: #PAN quer descer o #IRC (a todas as empresas). Quando lhe perguntam se isso não ajuda grandes empresas como a #Galp, ela diz que a Galp deve ser taxada de outras formas porque é poluidora. #PS quer reduzir impostos a quem usar os lucros de boas maneiras (formação, investimento, etc.), não a todos como o PAN. Descer IRC não faz descer preços nem subor salários (ficou provado). O PAN paga a descida que propõe como?, perguntou a jornalista. Inês não responde e fala do que lhe apetece.
2) #impostos, #taxas e #isenções: Vamos tirar os apoios aos produtos petrolíferos, e aumentar a taxa de carbono? PS diz não (poupar as família), PAN diz sim (poupar a natureza). PS quer reduzir o IUC, PAN quer passes gratuitos. PAN quer mais transportes públicos, PS também. PS quer regular preço do gás de botija para descer. PAN quer tetos máximos aos lucros na gasolina (surpreemdendo-me).
3) #LeiDosSolos: #PS aprovou (abstendo-se), #PAN não. Mas PS não gosta da Lei. PAN devia desafiar revogar se PS fizer governo (perdeu oportunidade).
4) habitação: PS quer construir. PAN não se entende (ou eu não entendi).

It's worse than any #IRC, #Mumble or even the old #TeamSpeak & #Skype for that matter.
It combines the disadvantages of #Forum, #paywalled #documentation, #chat and #voicechat with 0 redeeming qualities (unlike #Zulip & Mumble & #XMPP+#OMEMO) it's just an #InformationBlackhole!
I'm shure fecking #dread has better moderation and I'd rather use #MicrosoftTeams + #Slack cuz those at least have proper #moderation tools.
And I'd rather subscribe to the #LKML and see my inbox getting hosed than using any shitty #SaaS!
Case in point: I'd rather #SelfHost all my comms infrastructure than to ever use something like Discord or any other #GDPR-violating SaaS that is just enshittification.
I'd rather recommend people to instead choose a tool that does everything but horrible to go with multiple smaller & good tools
Public Chat? IRC!
Group Voicechat? Mumble.

E2EE Group Chats? #deltaChat.

Call me paranoid, but so far I've always been right when it counts.
That's why #Dezentralization is important.
That's why #AIM & #ICQ died while #IRC, #XMPP & #eMail persist to this day!
We were testing #galene as an alternative to #discord video/voice-chat in online #ttrpg sessions today. (In addition to #irc as a chat that is)
It worked fine. Galene has really low ressource demands and we had multiple people in the chat on two continents with good quality video and multiple simultaneous screenshare windows at the same time.
If discord enshittifies too much I think we at least have a way to play our games.
