A slightly past-perfect yellow iris is in late afternoon sun, in focus, while their green leaves and stem are out of focus. It is a bright, happy yellow, in a tripart form, with each petal having ruffled edges. It looks a bit like it is made from crumpled yellow tissue paper.

A single white iris is in almost perfect form, having opened this morning, I think. of the 10 plants, this is the only blossom so far. It also is in 3-axis symmetry, but here the petals are much more open and flared, while the center remains mostly furled. The edges of the petals are delicately scalloped. The spiky green leaves of the plant are very upright. One can see in the background all the weeds I didn't manage to pull today. Well... not ALL of them.

My favorite iris, a deep lavender with a yellow throat. This is a picture from a couple of years ago because for some reason it has decided not to bloom for the past 2 years. The foliage is variegated, in green and yellow and very pretty.

The blossom reminds me of someone in a purple floppy hat, in a purple shirt with balloon sleeves, holding their arms up to touch over their head, and sticking out their purple tongue after having eaten a yellow jawbreaker.

But you see whatever it is you see.

I've been seeing Iris's everywhere lately in these purple and blue hues. Inspired by the style of mandy.s.painting, I painted these loose and messy building up the layers and finally adding the detail lines.

The taller stem in the center ish also has a bud coming off the right with some small leaves. To the right is a long thin leaf. There are purple and blue splatters to activate the negative spaces. Thin curving lines accent the shape and movement of the iris petals.

Four colour photos. Various views of the flowers. There are three stems, each with a bloom and a bud. Of the blooms one is fully open, the other two just opened today and are on their way. They have a standard iris form, not deeply ruffled, mostly a sort of butterscotch or biscuit colour, with darker brown and purple at the throat. The beards are purple tipped with orange.
