I’m at a loss…. I installed #Debian twice to only boot into a black screen after install.

Welp, I guess I am off to the land of #Ubuntu with a quick stop at #LXLE (I don’t think it will install)

Welp, that was a thing. It took 45 minutes to get #LXLE live running, then another 30 to do a full install just to crash and not work.

My expectations were low, but this fell even lower than that.

I then attempted to install LXLE on the bare metal. After boot I just kept getting a black screen.

I booted up #Q4OS with #TrinityDE. It’s fine; it’s just not as exciting as getting Trinity running on my #mangopi #sbc

Okie dokie, I have #Proxmox up and running on the #N100 nuc.

Now I am in the process of starting my first ever Proxmox VM. For this I am trying out #LXLE.

@berniethewordsmith Mmm... La distro #LXLE viene con 100 wallpapers muy bonitos. No sé si se pueden encontrar buscándolos por algún sitio sin tener que instalar esa distro.

@HerlockSholmes Por ahora no me lo he planteado (lo de ampliar RAM), ya que es un ordendor secundario que apenas uso y con lo qyue tengo de momento (#LXLE) me va bien para el uso que le doy por ahora me es suficiente, aunque un amigo me comentó precisamente eso hace una semana y ya veré lo que hago, aunque por el momento no es una prioridad.

@HerlockSholmes Sin duda. Es uno de los primeros motivos por el que lo voy a mirar. Actualmente estoy usando #LXLE con escritorio #LXDE en mi ordenador secundario de 2010 con 4 GB de RAM. Por eso me interesa mirar cosas como #ArtixLinux con escritorios ligeros.

Pues por ahora sigo muy contento con mi #LXLE, no trae descargador de video en modo gráfico, pero en vez de añadirle un PPA he preferido descargar uno por terminal (yt-dlp) y probarlo. Así voy a prendiendo más.

Me lo tuve que descragar de GitHub porque la versión del repositorio nativo de LXLE venía desactualizada y no funcionaba.

Por ahora me he descargado un par de videos de prueba y funciona bien.

Pues contento por ahora con lo poquísimo que llevo con #LXLE instalado. Parece que va mejor en mi portáqtil de 2010 que #LinuxMint con #XFCE

Ahora resuelve con más fluidez las transferencias de archivos a la vez que -por ejemplo- descarga actualizaciones, cosa que antes era una u otra porque si no se bloqueaba o raletentizaba en exceso.

La tarea de irlo configurando me llevará tiempo pero es algo que no me corre prisa e iré haciendo poco a poco.

Al final he decidido no esperar a la semana que viene y acabo de instalar la distro #LXLE (arranca con 360 MB de RAM).

Ahora voy a ir configurándola.

Laptop #2 is this HP Mini 210 #netbook I got from a friend who was getting rid of it. With a 1.6 GHz single core Atom and 512 MB of RAM, it struggled to run Windows 7. I boosted the RAM to 2 GB, put in an SSD, and installed #lxle #linux - an extremely lightweight distro based on Ubuntu with the LXDE desktop. It... is still struggling. The only thing it's really good for is typing, and the keyboard is way too small and uncomfortable even for that. Maybe I'll use it as a file server or something.

Para esos ordenadores con unos cuantos años encima, #LXLE, que recién acaba de lanzar nueva versión, puede ser una buena distribución #Gnu #Linux, para mantenerlos funcionando de forma segura y libre.
