We are really pleased to launch #spotLights, an interview series featuring the most exciting preprints and the early-career researchers #ECRs behind them.
Bruno Vellutini, a postdoc #mpicbg is our very first guest – among other things, he talks about the story behind his recent #preprint on the cephalic furrow, his love for #EvoDevo and his academic journey taking him from Brasil, through Norway, to Germany.
Listen below or on our website (https://prelights.biologists.com/spotlights/)!

Hummingbirds are among the smallest and most agile birds in the world. In a genomic study in @sciencemagazine, the research group of Michael Hiller from the LOEWE Centre for Translational Biodiversity Genomics (LOEWE-TBG) in Frankfurt, who is a MPI-CBG Alumnus, investigated the evolutionary adaptations of the metabolism that may have enabled the hummingbirds' unique flying abilities. The experiments were done by Services and Facilities at MPI-CBG. https://www.mpi-cbg.de/news-outreach/news-media/article/extraordinary-flight-artists #genetics #mpicbg

www.mpi-cbg.deHappy Holidays from us to everyone! This very tiny snowman was created by Jana from our electron microscopy facility. It is made of recycled TEM copper mesh grids, which are slides for electron microscopy. They have a diameter of 3.05 millimeters and consist of 100 little squares called "meshes." Jana cut all the little parts out of some grids, put the parts together, and mounted it on a glass slide. The picture was taken with a light microscope. #mpicbg #merrychristmas #snowman
