#narcicism

The demonization of people with #narcicism needs to stop.
Narcicists are not inherently abusive or manipulative. They are by definion self absorbed, they have trouble considering the needs and feelings of others but all of these things can be worked on. Manipulative/abusive behaviors are learned and within heirarchal/ competive structures they are rewarded. We can build an alternative culture based on cooperation that shuns callouse disregard for others. The best way to deal with narcicists is by not enabling toxic behavior: dont be a sycophant, keep your friends humble but allow them the freedom to love and take pride in themselves and their abilities.

The problem ain't narcicism, the problem is hurtful behavior and heiravhal syructures. Don't tolerate cults of personality, or gossip/rumour mongering, or cliques. Cinfront people when they lie or but also give them an opening.

While narcicists are resistant to criticism and have a tendency to rationalize/justify their actions they also care deeply about the opinions of others and their pride may give them a deep comittment to principle and the courage to undertake risky endeavors.

Sometimes its necessary to cut people off but that should never be our first reaction.

Human beings have value god dammit
