I have a new co-worker sitting in the half cube next to me. I asked her today: "Did you bring something healthy for lunch?" Instead of telling me yes or no, she braced herself for mockery and replied, "why are you going to make fun of me?"

I want to be my authentic self at work: care for myself, set boundaries, but most importantly respect others and show them the same compassion I would show myself.
