Ouvrir la Science
Ouvrir la ScienceToday and Tomorrow I am in Munich at the Max Planck Institute for Physics, where we are (even) further refining the German input to the European Strategy for particle physics. I'm wearing my favourite dress :)
It's very sunny, and our slides are here: #openscience https://indico.desy.de/event/48080/timetable/
Join us at #EGU2025! Visit our booth to explore the future of #OpenScience and discover how #OpenAIRE is driving innovation in research and collaboration.
Hey, all! I'm looking for a speaker who can present virtually for OAWeek on international trends and progress toward #OpenAccess and #OpenScience in October. The idea for the talk is to explore the different ways that OA has been supported around the world, to help show that the norms in the US are not necessarily the best or most impactful. Is anyone on here interested in (or have a good name to recommend for) this? Feel free to follow up if so!

On May 22, 2025, the FRDN network will gather in Brussels…
ScivilHave been on a little holiday and meanwhile my pull request for the HPC Certification Forum (#HPCCF - we just _need_ a hashtag ) on workflow management systems (that is the skill definitions) has been approved! Thanks to @jkunkel1 !
To me, it is important that the #HPC community realizes the value of automation in data analysis which, in turn, is a great leap for #ReproducibleResearch !

@gedankenstuecke
Oh wow that is bad!
On the up side: when submitting that as a paper to a journal, they will need to indicate that informed consent was given by the study participants. As they can't any such submission should not proceed.
At least as minimum standard for any social sciences journal. We do have clear ethic guidelines for that after all ...in theory apparently :(

"Two and a half month into the One Million IUPAC Names project, we passed the third milestone, the one for 100 thousand IUPAC names (doi:10.5281/zenodo.15266459). Time for an update."

So... We wanted open peer review to make science better. Instead, we accidentally trained bots to do peer review. Love that for us. #OpenScience

SWHIDs (SoftWare Hash IDentifiers ) are persistent identifiers #PIDs for software source code artifacts such as source code files, source trees, commits, and other objects typically found in version control systems.
Great news: The #SHWID now meets the #ISO standard.

Did you know major climate models like Community Earth System Model (CESM) often miss extreme events like the 2011 Texas drought? By boosting #CESM with high-resolution modeling, researchers Hsin I Chang, Yoshimitsu Chikamoto, & Christoforus Bayu Risanto show it’s possible to predict extreme #weather weeks in advance!
