I’m back on the road again, going to Salem to drop off the loaner dog #Damu with his hooman

Staying in the same spot I did last week with the babbling brook

It’s exactly half way between where I was and where I’m going

The drive can be done in half a day with minimal stops, but hwy 101 along the Oregon coast deserves lots of stopping and oogling the ocean

I’d rather spend half a day getting half the way!

I was cursing myself for not bringing my actual camera with me to the coast today because there happened to be decent bird action, but thankfully, this Brown Pelican let me get close enough to get a couple of decent phone photos before taking off.

I decided last week that I needed a little break and scheduled today and tomorrow as vacation days from work. How often do vacation days turn out to be this gorgeous in Oregon?!? Especially when planned more than a week in advance. I drove up to the Roads End area of Lincoln City and walked up the beach to the edge of Cascade Head. Look at those huge washed up logs. I’d have loved to see the waves that brought those in. #oregoncoast #lincolncityoregon

Velella velella back on the north Oregon coast! Got to the beach this morning and there were slippery smelly drifts of them covering the sand. They're so cool - so blue and strange. Candidates for a Darwin award climbed out on the rocks yesterday. The tide was relatively low, so the rocks were accessible, but there were ~15 foot waves in a stormy sea, and a rising tide. A kid scrambled off the outermost of those rocks about 30 seconds before a wave washed over it. #newportoregon #oregoncoast
