Question for my #osm #openstreetmap fellow nerds: Is the surface of this pavement sett or rock? This is a residential area so the path is man-made, not natural.

@jackpearse Ich kann ja meine Touren hochladen, habe ich schon teilweise bei #OSM gemacht.

Today, I finalised an #osm mapping project.

I never thought that I would be able to contribute anything besides minor updates here and there to #openstreetmap. But then there was this park area which was reconstructed close to my home. And and nobody had picked this up yet, I added this park to my morning run and was able to update the map bit by bit:
Paths, benches, waste bins, fitness stations, courts, individual objects on the playground, … we should have a good basis now.

Interesting discussions go along with such an exercise. I learned a lot.

Worked on adding some details to the Mt Ksico NY town central. Added missing sidewalks, parking lots, and building details. Unfortunately I forgot to get a before photo.

Among others

- In #OSM admin_level is not hierarchical (usually)
- Ofc all the countries have different levels (somewhat expected)
- Stupid me thinking at least per country it would be uniform (hahaha, certainly not in Germany)
- There would be a "sane" mapping per country to unify the levels, if their name are different per state

@kuketzblog Was genau habe ich davon, meine #standortdaten an ein anderes Unternehmen im selben Staat zu schicken, in dem die Einhaltung der #dsgvo mit einer laestigen, aber letztlich bezahlbaren Steuer gleichgesetzt wird? Mit #osm scheint eine nachhaltigere Alternative zu bestehen, die man eigenverantwortlich dort hosten (lassen) kann, wo man der Datenverarbeitung traut, und bei der man an der Beseitigung etwaiger technischer Maengel mitwirken kann, weil man weitreichendere Rechte an den Daten hat.

@kuketzblog ist leider keine Alternative. Habe gerade den Artikel gelesen und wollte hier in Istanbul die Strecke vom Hotel zu Hagia Sofia berechnen lassen. Bei #Apple #Karten sind keine öffentlichen Verkehrsmittel hinterlegt. Bei Google ist es perfekt. Leider ist auch der ganze #OSM #openstreetmap Kram keine Alternative für mich.
