Not much news on other mobile platforms but I needed a reliable clock that wakes me up even when the 📱 is suspended so I added some boottime clock support to #gnomeClocks.

This together with #feedbackd support can be found in gitlab.gnome.org/guidog/gnome- and #phosh's nightly packages.

@lupo haha no, icewm is not suitable for a smartphone, but I don't see #phosh ported to freebsd yet 😜

@agx @chris @teacherrogueone Yes, I use PDFs in #phosh's ticket box also a lot. It is very convenient!

Guido Günther

@chris @teacherrogueone Same here. I've been using the PDF in #phosh's ticket box for all kinds of tickets so I don't have to print them . I've heard BahnCard is more problematic nowadays but I don't have that since some time.

Wow I've never seen this before! Usually the whole shell just freezes up or something unless I quickly SSH and kill or something. Definitely an improvement 😅

It would be really nice if #Phosh added a pocket detection feature using the proximity sensor. I disabled the PIN login but now it seems to randomly unlock and respond to garbage input in my pocket. I'm not sure what is causing it to randomly wake either, but checking the proximity sensor before allowing a swipe unlock seems like a good idea.

There is lots of good stuff. Look at for example #LinuxMobile #Phosh #PinePhone #Librem5 @linmob @phosh

Phosh 0.46.0 brings customization, UI improvements to the mobile Linux user interface

Phosh is a user interface designed for smartphones running Linux-based operating systems. First developed by Purism for the Librem 5 smartphone, it’s now available for a wide range of devices and works with most major Linux distributions.

While Phosh has long had many of the core features you’d expect from a smartphone user interface, it’s still a little rough around the edges compared with […]

As part of or work on #Cellbroadcast we've documented our current test setup: codeberg.org/Phosh/gsm-cell-te using #osmocom for the mobile network parts and #ansible for deploying #ModemManager on the devices, performing the tests and checking the results.

Thanks to @NGIZero for supporting our work on this.

I'd like to understand how Android handles some QMI bits and found tooling by @joelselvaraj for that on the @postmarketOS wiki (wiki.postmarketos.org/wiki/Qua). That needs a patched Android kernel, so I took some notes how I got that to work on a Pixel 3a. Just in case this is useful to others: honk.sigxcpu.org/con/Booting_a

@nippon Hello,
Personally, I use my PinePhone Pro as my only smartphone, and it's completely satisfactory (except for the low battery life).
I'm running Manjaro Linux with phosh and all the available apps (thanks in part to WayDroid).
Sincerely, Pierre.

The small N900 screen was good, since a resistive-screen stylus controlled all those linux app buttons so easily. No finger-width spacing! The stylus was simple plastic, easy to replace.

I read makers saying they don't want to make room for a stylus, but honestly I would be willing to hold mine on with a rubberband, to get that level of touch-screen control again.

Nice, just a small fix and #phosh's compositor #phoc runs with #wlroots #vulkan renderer on the OnePlus6T. This needs some more work regarding e.g. alpha blending but it's already usable.

Dear distro maintainers and "i build my own stuff" people:

In case you want to check out 0.46 relesae upfront: we've tagged the first releases candidates (0.46~rc1) of #phosh and related components today. 🎉

Release is planned 2025-03-31 (gitlab.gnome.org/World/Phosh/p)

The bulk of the changes landed already so hopefully it's only bugfixes from here on.
