I see that in 2025, I've been posting in Finnish 90% of the time and in English only 10%, mainly due to the huge influx of Finnish users this year. In previous years, it was the opposite - 90% English and 10% Finnish.
The best part? It doesn't matter here in the Fediverse. With language filtering and translation features, it's truly a top-tier social media.

If you can make and get puns and play language games, you can do ablaut and Semitic-style patterns.
Most wordplay revolves around modifying or replacing parts of words. The same is true for both IE-style ablaut and Semitic-style patterns: you take part of the word and transform it in a predictable manner (usually by replacing, adding, or deleting a vowel). The main difference is that in the latter case, you are doing it to indicate a change in tense, mood, or another grammatical category, rather than trying to be funny.
It's probably no big surprise that word people like wordplay, but if you're trying to become a word person, remember that wordplay isn't just fun — it's also _practice_.

In the latest #GraalVM release, the coordinates for #JavaScript and #Python #polyglot language dependencies have shifted. Essentially, you can now pull `org.graalvm.js:js` into your dependency management and than depend on on `org.graalvm.js:js-language`

According to this famous Polyglot, language acquisition (comprehensible input) is more important than skills development(language learning) to becoming fluent.

The format is human-readable and human-editable, and should be compatible with existing Markdown parsers (that's the goal

If you are doing #polyglot programming with #GraalVM, say you have some #JavaScript that is accessing #Java host objects, in addition to host access being allowed in the context, you need to register them for reflection fully when you turn your program into a #nativeImage.
if you’re the singer in a band, and you tour internationally, wouldn’t you want to speak multiple languages? I feel like you should. For those times between songs, when you’re talking to the audience. If you could, that would set you apart from other bands. Those fans would respect you even more

How many languages do you speak?
@mikael thats makes sense. Europe contains many spoken languages. So those Suse users - what’s the breakdown between French, German, Italian, Spanish, Czech, Swedish, etc?
This would be good to distros to know. Application developers would also benefit from knowing this, so they can prioritize the internationalization of their apps. It would also be great for language learners to know, for when they want to switch their computer to use their target language
Unfortunately I only finished 3rd in Obsidian league to reach Diamond league on DuoLingo.
However as I always tell my students “Progress trumps Perfection”…
