thank you so much for this video (and posting on peertube)!
makes me really thinking of getting a #PineNote instead of a laptop...
could you show us how syntax highlighting looks like for coding on this greyscale screen, for exmple opening some code with micro editor?
of course i'd love to see #postmarketos with #sxmo running on it, but maybe this will become a winter task for me

Already seems way more smooth than I have thought.
Some days ago I made a post about thinking on findind some non-iOS, non-Google phone. It seemed to exist 2 possibilities: De-Googled Android or pure Linux. I am so enticed on going pure Linux!

Aiming for a 10 year life-cycle for smartphones
postmarketOSIf you always wanted to run a tiling window manager on your smartphone, give Sxmo a try.
They just added a nice getting started guide to nicely illustrate how gestures are used to open the menu, bring up and close the keyboard, switch between workspaces and more:

Sxmo: Simple X mobileDo you have a chromebook of the kukui flavor running #postmarketOS edge?
If you want you can now test the 6.12.9 kernel I am working on with `mrtest add 6081`. Feedback appreciated via comments in https://gitlab.postmarketos.org/postmarketOS/pmaports/-/merge_requests/6081
@furilabs nice, nice, so #FuriOS is just like #SailfishOS or #PureOS, #Mobian, #PostmarketOS, ... yeah, it's a marketing post ;)
But (for me much more important) are you planning a second phone with for example a #Rockchip or at least a #Snapdragon SoC? Or do you just planning to use #Gigaset Smartphones as your base platform?
First try to create #libcamera swISP tuning files for the OnePlus6 with #ideasonboard folks at #embeddedworld. Unfortunately we hit an issue that we couldn't fix on-side - got a few todos to make sure things work out next time!
Sorry for the blatant n00b question. I searched online, the FAQ etc. and didn’t see what to me is an obvious question. Supporting old devices is great. In the PC world we have general linux, but on Android and some other consumer devices, solutions have been limited. There are Android forks(?) or implementations like LineageOS that run great. I’ve used non-Google Android since 2018.
So what is the motivation for yet another OS solution? There must be a reason for this project to go on and have so much enthusiasm.
We think computers should act in the interest of their users. For example, they should not participate in the privacy nightmare of targeted advertising, as it is directly built into the operating systems from Amazon, Apple, Google and Microsoft, as well as the apps and services recommended by them.
This is kinda FUD, right? Google-Android has a lot of privacy invasion. But there are all kinds of Android versions that are de-Googled.
My best guess right now is that it is attempting to provide a “full featured” distro for devices that run phone and tablet OSs now. So if you want a server or full coding environment on a phone, pmOS may be better suited for that than an Android “fork”.
To users of the postmarketOS Matrix and IRC channels:
Looks like Matrix is shutting down the IRC bridge to OFTC that we are currently using soon. We are considering whether to selfhost / possibly use an alternative public bridge instance / maaaybe it is not worth keeping a bridge around at all (meaning that we would move to matrix only)
Is it important to you that we keep a Matrix <> IRC bridge around?
#postmarketOS now boots on Microsoft Lumia 640 LTE Dual Sim!

Big thank you to @craftyguy of @postmarketOS - had a nice time talking about all things about app ecosystem, postmarketos, and building community. Grateful that he installed a new version of postmarketos and the camera works!!! (OnePlus 6t) that was exciting. Still trying to figure out why the sim card doesn't work, but it is because there is some kind of lock.

Was able to complete the Webcam Test at https://webcamtests.com/ on the #OnePlus 6T running #postmarketOS using #LibreWolf!
Love the new @postmarketOS website! It is cool to see a foss projects structure being laid out so clearly front and center (https://postmarketos.org/team/).

postmarketOSthe new @postmarketOS website is so well done!
The whole organisation and presentation of the project, I especially like this page: https://postmarketos.org/team/
I think at #gnome the same is needed, #postmarketOS can be a really good guide on how to do it right. The new website is a good start, but if I am honest its a very first iteration, and emphasis was mostly on refactoring only the design I think.

postmarketOS@chesterdott @dos If you can afford it, buy a Liberty Phone from @purism.
Otherwise, try playing around with a used OnePlus 6/6T running #postmarketOS.
