Readwise Reader: Sync, Highlight, and Read Smarter
https://youtu.be/5MFs2F9Zv9o
After covering a bunch of read later options recently the most requested option has been Readwise Reader. Readwise is a compelling option with RSS integration, Kobo/Kindle integrations, sync with Obsidian1 and to top it off the ability to send various content to it so you can read and highlight it later.

Anyone know of a good #RSS #FeedReader and #ReadLater combo app for Android and/or web? Thanks
Spent this afternoon switching around come of my tech stuff
- Arc is no longer my main browser, I'm now using Zen
- I've swapped Reeder. for Reeder Classic.
- Using Pocket for read later
- Using Feedbin for RSS

It's been a while, but I'm really looking for a proper solution to follow my #RSS feeds, keep some of my favorites articles, and have a #readlater solution.
I'm a fan of #reeder but I honestly don't like the new layout... Reeder Classic is great but understandly has no "read later" or "keep article" feature.
Is there any consolidated solution for this, preferably #opensource (but ready to pay!)?
Or should I keep my Reeder Classic for RSS and take a separate solution for "read later" and some favourite articles?
SelfHosted – Best Self Hosted Apps of 2024
The title is a bit meta, but there are some excellent options on this list of best self hosted apps of 2024. I’ll set up Pinchflat to give my younger children access to YouTube creators that don’t label their content as kid friendly because that breaks their monetization, but are still totally fine to watch. I’m also interested in

ReadItLater – Obsidian Plugin
After last week's look at some read later services I had a bunch of suggestions including the Obsidian ReadItLater plugin. To test this out you need to go to Obsidian settings then Community Plugins where you can search for and active this plugin.

I should claw my way through this, but I’m tired and my attention span has run out.
Really enjoyed this #rant by @phire because it's true (I had basically the same experience with the @omnivore #readlater service) and the prose?is very entertaining.

Linkwarden vs Wallabag vs Obsidian Web Clipper
Yes Omnivore is gone so today we're going to take a look at 3 other options for saving articles to read later.
Linkwarden
Wallabag
Obsidian Web Clipper
My biggest issue with all of them is how poorly they handle YouTube content. If you've got other options I should look at I'd love to hear about them.

Glasp for reading later
After talking about Pocket alternatives a few other options have been recommended. Including NextCloud bookmarks (which Marcel talked about in the link above) and then Glasp.
Out of the gate I don't see an extension for Firefox so I'm out on that point alone but there is something more sinister lurking...AI. Specifically the AI Clone feature. If we can set aside the envi

Pocket Alternatives from Marcel
While Marcel has been using Pocket for a long time recent instability had him check out other options. His list includes:
LinkAce
linkding
Readeck
Servas
Shiori
Wallabag (I'm trying this currently)
To that list I'd add Linkwarden and even Obsidian Web Clipper. I'll be recording a video on my experiences with Wallabag, Linkwarden

In light of the recent #Omnivore acquisition, I recently published a brief overview of the various #selfhosted bookmark and read later apps that can easily replace popular hosted services. As usual, they're all fantastic and should be considered based on individual preferences and needs!

Self-hosted alternatives to popular online read later…
selfh.stLooks like there is hope. Incredibly thankful that somebody puts in the work. Just hope the iOS app will get some self hosting love too. Until then, I made myself comfortable with Zotero and have to say that I quite like it.

pt 2 of the omnivore saga
wallabag was a bust for me, personally. in the end, it’s a toss-up between pocket and matter - all i need is a good tagging system and reader view
leaning towards matter for the better article suggestions and overall experience - but pocket wins on the non-intrusive paywall
i suppose i’ll test them side by side for a few more days

Now that #Omnivore has gone the way of many promising startups and been absorbed into another company, I’m taking suggestions for #ReadLater apps. #Instapaper is the one I started with and spent years with before using Omnivore for the last little bit. I’ve heard good things about #Matter and #Readwise but haven’t looked at them closely. Then there’s always #Pocket. I’d like either a really nice web interface, or a good app for at least Mac and iOS. Boost for reach, if you would.
