Granted, @tails_live @tails / #Tails and @torproject / #TorBrowser are propably one of the best & most battle-tested options that are useable for #TechIlliterates...

OFC #OpenBSD + #LynxBrowser forced through #Tor would be more #secure (on paper) but we can all agree it's neither feasible nor practical to expect "#Normies" to work within a 80x25 TUI and learn #BSD.

And it's not as if I haven't taught people how to get started, ranging from having to crash-course someone remotely via chat to hand-on #CryptoParty sessions: If it's way more complex than an AKM chances are people won't stick with it!

So you can imagine how glad I was when @thunderbird merged #Enigmail into #Thunderbird so there's no more fiddling around getting #PGP/MIME to work!

But then again when enthusiasts like @fuchsiii and I were shouting "#ShutUpAndTakeMyMoney!" to #Mozilla, they basically refused to sell any #device, and then we get the "#PSvita-Effect":

Noone's gonna build an #App for a platform that is essentially a rounding error from the start!…

#porkbun has #email with @protonprivacy, really affordably. So I switched my business mail to that, and I have it all setup in #emacs! :D @daviwil is a goddamned treasure. I would not be able to setup my workflow this well without Systems Crafters! I'm happy! I feel so #secure and #cozy, and I can do #gpg for a little extra. Just don't let crazy Christians on my e-mail chains. I don't want to pull a Hegseth.

For purposes of "#secure communication", my #doctor's office has a web site that allows messaging. All I get by email is "hey, you have a message" and then I login and read it. Lots of places do this: banks, medical, government, etc. I sorta get it.

But on the other hand this web-based email interface is nowhere near as useful as, say, gmail or SOGo. I must go to each unread message, click it, click delete, over and over. No 'select all'. No 'mark all as read' or anything. So I see a screen like this, and I think: "welp, there's 70 mouse clicks I'm gonna have to do".

Note that one of them is "automated messages." They're things like appointment reminders. My doctor is pretty aggressive about reminding people about appointments. So they send multiple messages, even if you've already done their "eCheckin" thing. There's just no way to get out of these things.

And I feel like I need to keep this list clean, because if they send me something important, I want to be able to find it. I don't want 35 pointless, out-of-date messages clogging up my #medical patient portal.

Le sigh.
