From time to time I get these errors reposting or liking some posts.

I assume it’s an issue in #snac ? . Am I the only one ?

So creating a poll in #snac from Mona posts just the message but not the choices :-/

It works from the web UI (though there I couldn’t find where to set the language).

Hey @grunfink@comam.es, a couple days ago I started using #snac...no doubt, one of the best #fediverse entry point IMHO... thanks a bunch!!!

Current #snac dilemma:

- if I enable proxy_media all images and thumbnails appear instantly on my phone (the server is in another room here).

- if I disable it, I can see the lag fetching them sometimes but at least videos on other accounts play just fine in Mona. They usually fail to play after being proxied (work fine on the web, fail in Mona, most likely because of unsupported http range requests). Also this reveals my home IP to other servers.

Connecting with official Mastodon app to #snac works and I can see lists, local timeline and profile but somehow the main page fails.

I see two missing endpoints here:
/v2/instance
and
/v1/instance/translation_languages

So maybe one of these causes the issue.

I am trying IceCubes with #snac to verify this video issue but unfortunately after entering credentials in login page it just closes and nothing happens in the app.

Anyone uses IceCubes with snac ?

Hi, #snac author here. The screenshot you provided shows that it's a boost by a user named Newk... if you are not following them, certainly it should not appear in your timeline. I've never seen this happen before, maybe it's some kind of strange bug. I'll investigate and get back to you if I find an explanation.

I don't understand why #snac has placed this toot in my "private" timeline (i.e. /username/admin). I don't follow the boosting account, and I don't follow any of the hashtags.

This isn't a question about blocking those specific hashtags or people - I know how to do that if I want. I'm trying to figure out how to drive snac so that I don't get unwanted toots thrust in my face that I didn't ask for. What am I missing?

When #snac receives a post from someone you follow, it also tries to retrieve the posts it's a reply to, up to the first one, to provide some context (and show the conversation as a tree).

A #snac oddity; why does my view of the timeline of toots from folks I follow show me replies from folks I follow but when they're talking to people I /don't/?

This is the small script I use to keep #snac updated to the latest stable version (It just fetches the most recent tag).

Overall after a few months I am extremely happy with my migration to #snac (inside a small LXC on #proxmox on a Mini PC at home).

There are a few rough edges but they’re being worked on and I don’t see myself walking back to anything heavier anytime soon.

Right now my data folder is 1.2GB and that’s because I have enabled server side proxying, otherwise it’d be minuscule. I love knowing I can just tar my folder and that’s it: I have a full working backup.

@CenturyAvocado@fosstodon.org @neil The only safe way to avoid getting inadvertently dragged into fights you didn’t chose to be part of is to run your own instance. And this is getting easier every day.

I happily paid Masto.host for that piece of mind for a pair of years (didn’t want to learn how to host heavy mastodon) and now use my own #snac instance because it’s lightweight and simple (file-based).

Also I know that for as long as I pay for my own domain it’ll be there. No infighting, no migration etc.

Ok - I'm giving #snac (.bsd.cafe) a proper shake as my main fedi account. I still can't get the #IceCubes app to add it as an account, so I'm going to use the webUI for now.

If you're seeing this via a boost from my other account then please consider following the boosted account directly, as I won't be boosting its toots particularly often! ❤️

I submitted a Pull Request to update MacPorts' snac to 2.78 here:

https://github.com/macports/macports-ports/pull/28613

I'm not sure why, but it seems as if the GitHub Continuous Integration checks are just... hanging? They were queued for a really long time and I stopped looking and when I checked again it was like "running" or whatever for 9 hours, but clearly probably nothing is actually happening.

Builds locally OK!

It's been a couple of days since I submitted that PR, and my apologies for lagging upstream as well. My life has been kinda, off.

I'll probably get around to emailing the MacPorts' dev mailing list if it still seems to be stalled and no one else beats me to it. Presumably, eventually, it will get merged!

Thanks again to you and others (e.g. dandelions, postscriptum, piefed) for the continued improvements!
