Test-spinning a cable yarn (which is plying two or more plied yarns together), a 2x2 formation for this one. Might go back to the drawing board for the colour distribution of a couple of the singles. Taking a progress photo and realizing belatedly... Having strong colour/aesthetic opinions really mean you keep accidentally matching. The bottom pattern is from my night caftan ie my lap. In progress cable yarn on a Turkish spindle, being fed from two bottom-whorl drop spindles. The combined effect is splashes of neon blues and yellows and hot pink against dark blues and purples. The wooden spindles and yarn is matching my wooden desk, and the computer peripherals plus my nightgown with the dark blues and purples and the neon accents

My new (old) Bulgarian #spindles arrived! This is will be my first time in a while to do supported spinning on pure wood ones - usually I prefer those with a metal tip, for better wear. I got these off of Etsy - with where I'm located, sourcing this sort of thing is still best done there. I thought I was fully sorted on my spindle collection and then... of course I lost one. 2nd pic: my current in-progress. Previous reports suggested that #facial #muscles lack muscle #spindles (that provide info on muscle length & contraction velocity) but this study anatomypubs.onlinelibrary.wile shows human facial muscles contain muscle spindles - Study predicted that humans would have the greatest number, given the role our lips play in speech. But humans & other primates had the lowest number - like it that the findings went against the authors' hypothesis - but what is going on?

if one would do a chain-ply with this 100 grams merino top and had two #spindles, how would you proceed? spin 50 g on one spindle and ply and again? wind several smoler yarnballs and connect them (somehow?) while plying?
