The second sequence of the #communist hypothesis runs from 1917 to 1976:
from the #Bolshevik #Revolution to the end of the Cultural Revolution and
the militant upsurge throughout the world during the years 1966-75. It
was dominated by the question: how to win? How to hold out—unlike the
Paris Commune—against the armed reaction of the possessing classes; how
to organize the new power so as to protect it against the onslaught of
its enemies? It was no longer a question of formulating and testing the
communist hypothesis, but of realizing it: what the 19th century had
dreamt, the 20th would accomplish. The obsession with victory, centred
around questions of organization, found its principal expression in the
‘iron discipline’ of the communist party—the characteristic construction
of the second sequence of the hypothesis. The #party effectively solved
the question inherited from the first sequence: the revolution
prevailed, either through insurrection or prolonged popular war, in
Russia, China, Czechoslovakia, Korea, Vietnam, Cuba, and succeeded in
establishing a new order.

But the second sequence in turn created a further problem, which it
could not solve using the methods it had developed in response to the
problems of the first. The party had been an appropriate tool for the
overthrow of weakened reactionary regimes, but it proved ill-adapted for
the construction of the ‘dictatorship of the proletariat’ in the sense
that Marx had intended—that is, a temporary state, organizing the
transition to the non-state: its dialectical ‘withering away’. Instead,
the party-state developed into a new form of #authoritarianism. Some of
these regimes made real strides in education, public health, the
valorization of labour, and so on; and they provided an international
constraint on the arrogance of the imperialist powers. However, the
#statist principle in itself proved corrupt and, in the long run,
ineffective. #Police #coercion could not save the ‘#socialist’ state from
internal #bureaucratic inertia; and within fifty years it was clear that
it would never prevail in the ferocious competition imposed by its
capitalist adversaries. The last great convulsions of the second
sequence—the Cultural Revolution and May 68, in its broadest sense—can
be understood as attempts to deal with the inadequacy of the party.

Libertarians

If you are pro-democracy libertarians accuse you of being "statist" or "collectivist." Also there's a lot of "Marxist" out there from people who have no idea what the word means.

@ladyoferie I don't want to be mean, but this is precisely what it is. And this is coming from a #Hispanic by birth. Back in the days, When the US was #Protestant, They use to come out with books. I do remember reading one of those books, back in the early 90s. The book was written lat 1800's, and the US use to be at war with the #RomanCatholicChurch AKA #RCC. They wrote that they will be conquering #America with an #Army that would come from the South. Nobody though that the army was going to be the Hispanic folks. What we are is in a war, and what the enemy want is to bring the whole world after the Beast of Revelation 13 and 17.

The influx of Hispanics that are coming through the South the majority if not all, are Catholic. Individually that does not make them bad people, but they don't know what real capitalism is and the laws of the land. They are subdue easily because they are more #Statist than freedom loving.

This is the reason why The #US has problems with #ClimateChange. This is not because the US does not want to save the Birds and the Bees, but because climate change comes in with religious laws, like observing #Sunday as a "Family Day" and Worshiping the #Trinity.

Imagine being force to worship a God that you don't want and not producing for the greater good and getting them in our country by law. we are force to, and we call that the greater good. So, you are right in believing and posting what it is. Shout to @prodigal he might want to get involve with this.

Ep. 25 "Discussing MMT Through the Eyes of a Socialist"

Gives the best overview.

To summarize: Ultimate #Statist #MonetaryPolicy:

"All money comes from the State. #Deficits do not matter. The State can make as much money as it wants. The purpose of taxes is to create a demand for the State's #currency."

Do you expect the State to reach any other conclusion?

Recall @fourteenwords1488 's dismissal of @Paul47 's request to define terms as "clinging to a dictionary".

@fourteenwords1488 is an obvious impostor; he is a #NaziImpersonator whose interests and intentions have nothing to do with Nazism and everything to do with slandering Libertarianism.

As such, he corrupts language in order to deceive, hence his rejection of any attempt to define terms during a "discussion". This is to be expected and, as a good #AntiFa #statist, he is doing his job.

But language corruption also comes from ostensible defenders of liberty. Ostensible defenders of liberty will frequently refer to our current system as "capitalism" or "the free market." Libertarians know what those terms mean and instantly realize that our current system is most assuredly not capitalism or the free market. But many others ("practical men") will be duped and accept without question the incorrect use of these terms.

Keynes said:

"The ideas of economists and political philosophers, both when they are right and when they are wrong, are more powerful than is commonly understood. Indeed, the world is ruled by little else. Practical men, who believe themselves to be quite exempt from any intellectual influences, are usually the slaves of some defunct economist."

I agree.

Both Libertarians and "practical men" agree our current system is, in many ways, unjust - a rigged game that benefits the few at the expense of the many.

But when Libertarians promote Capitalism or the free market, what does the "practical man" think? He thinks "Those evil Libertarians are promoting our current, unjust, rigged system!" And so the practical man, understandably, rejects Libertarianism.

So, @billstclair , my point, or perhaps my suggestion, is that Libertarians reject this particular example of language corruption - and not only reject it, but call it out whenever and wherever it is encountered.

This year, New York (America's most authoritarian state) started imposing at gunpoint a "Stargazing Permit" that forces everyone whether locals or visitors to pay a penalty for admiring the stars in public parks. You read that right. In New York, you must pay for a license to look at the freakin stars or otherwise you'll be kidnapped (arrested in doublespeak) by the state's licensed killers (cops). This draconian new law that sounds as if it came straight out of George Orwell's 1984 dystopia is actually being enforced TODAY in New York. The Big Brother state is charging residents $35 for a 1-year permit and the fee jumps to $60 if you're a visitor. This new draconian law is obviously an extortion racket and a brazen money grab designed to separate New York residents and visitors from more of their hard-earned cash.
