Because I love #taskmaster so much I have given many of the apparently five trillion British panely gamey shows a try and the only one I've really gelled to in any meaningful sense is Richard Osman's House of Games and to a lesser extent Would I Lie To You?.

Every other panel show seems to have Jimmy Carr hosting it and I have this VISCERAL negative reaction to him. I cannot stand that dude. And he is *every-fucking-where*.

@kd8bxp Ha... I actually learned about #taskmaster on Mastodon. It was one of those random things I saw in my first week after joining where i thought "hey this isn't going to be too bad here."

Sometimes #youtube recommends something that I just go - huh? then I watch it, and can't stop.

#Taskmaster is just that show - I'm quite surprised at how many comedic "game" shows the BBC has.
I can only think of "Whose line is it anyway?" here, but across the pond, I found "8 out of 10 cats", "The Big Fat Quiz" and many others.... now I can add Taskmaster to the list

#Taskmaster series 4 episode 7

We're #Taskmaster addicts in our house. We've watched all the UK ones on their YouTube channel, as well as the Australian ones, and now we're busy with the NZ ones (don't watch Taskmaster Junior. It sucks... although if you happen to have juniors, they might like it.

To be honest, and I'm not proud to say this I think the perception among a lot of people here in #SouthAfrica is that the Australian and New Zealand accents are very similar. Almost indistinguishable, in fact.

But now, having just finished the Australian ones and started the New Zealand ones, I realise how terribly incorrect that assumption is. I can't imagine how anyone might think they're even remotely similar!

The culture too, is quite different, as evidenced by the way the contestants dress for the tasks, the surroundings, the words and phrasings they use. #NewZealand is more rural, while #Australia is not exactly "big city" vibes, it is a lot more cosmopolitan.

NZ actually reminds me a lot of central South Africa (Free State, Northern Cape, etc)... also because I've just recently been through there. :-)

Is that a fair assessment, Australian and New Zealand friends?

And is it fair to say that we assume the accents are so similar, fellow South Africans? Or was I actually the only one who ever thought that? ;-P

My UK friends, I may have made a crucial error. I just started watching #Taskmaster and I started with season 14. Then I went back to season 2 and was like 'why are all these people not equally delightful?' It's going to be pretty hard to live up to!
