Many years ago, there was a birdsite hashtag #WeMetOnTwitter. Later it got taken over by some band, BTS, if I recall. But the original hashtag was lovely. It was full of stories, mostly good ones, of people who had met there. Some had even gone on to get married and have kids.

Two interesting things about it: it seem to be about 75% a Black Twitter thing; and, amongst straight people, the vast majority of the connections were initiated by women "sliding into the DM's" of men and initiating conversation.

Since #WeMetOnTwitter is trending, I will say that for all the nonsense that goes down on the birdsite, it is also where I met a lot of my closest friends and my incredible wife, @Girly_Juice@twitter.com.

So, it’s not *all* bad.
