Game studio says remote work made their game better because they were able to hire talent they couldn’t find locally
You need talent to grow a studio, and good talent isn't…
www.gamedeveloper.comThis is what my desk looked like at the end of the day today ... after working on the development of a custom WordPress theme for my current project.
This is one [of many] reason why I don't work at the office. They just don't provide a space where I can spread out my notes (and sketches and such).
Funding cuts got my job last week. It's important to stay busy, keep those skills sharp... #3dprinting #animation #stopmotion #lipsync #dolls #workfromhome #job #fired #jobcut #wfh #nap
Working from home today and normally I am pretty solidly at my work, but today the temptation to go lie down is so strong! #WFH
Politics aside, new research shows there are good financial reasons to back working from home

Benefits of WFH now too big to ignore
One-third of Australians work from home regularly.…
The Sydney Morning HeraldI can't remember when I've seen something this desperate - reversing a major policy announcement in the middle of an election campaign. Dutton is a blustering idiot; why would you vote for him?
"Peter Dutton has been forced into a costly backflip that shows he has deeper problems in this election campaign than his approach to working from home.
"The opposition leader has made a necessary decision to stage a big policy shift so he can assure Australians – especially women – that he will not force them back to the office."

@ChrisMayLA6 Hybrid working helped people who could get into the office at that specific time, because of health/mobility issues, cared for others, couldn’t afford hours of childcare, or a home nearer work. WFH also helped people that had abuse in the office-based activities often abuse that nobody catches or sees. Power retained by the few, meetings where looks are exchanged around the table each time someone speaks. #WFH enabled and balanced the table for contribution to the workplace.

EUROPE SAYSWhat the heck?! Every once in a while I'm reminded about the terrible work culture we have in the U.S.
TIL: "In 2016, the French government adopted a 'right to disconnect' law that allows workers the freedom to not respond to messages from employers outside of established working hours. Ireland, Belgium, Australia, and other nations have instituted similar restrictions."
When you leave the office for the day, really leave.
The AtlanticActually somewhat excited about work today, finally getting privs to an Azure PG instance and testing out some ETL. I've been prepared for months!
But I've been so demotivated by the forced RTO order from our governor that I barely recognize this feeling. It's how I used to feel on the regular, but now I just want to crawl in a corner and scheme with my union brothers and sisters.
Just imagine, if I could continue #WFH, I'd be motivated like this every day! But politics ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
Trying to get my brain back into "application analysis and design" mode, for the next big module of my current project. Good thing I'm #WFH and I'm alone. Bad thing when I realize I have a ton of new questions for my users, so I'll have to... talk to people. ugh.
Tuesday 06:33
Technically a day off work on #PTO as I have a certain fun procedure tomorrow afternoon and start prep later today.
No solid food, no creamer, etc, so I shall be drinking Ginger Peach Black Tea this morning.
I was up in the middle of the night running #FoodBank end of month reports, with the most important part sending my CEO an email of information.
Once I sent that email I practically crashed out into bed.
Today will be a mixture of eating what I can, working on other reports & emails, lots of naps, and most importantly keeping out of Arianna's way as she works from home. #WFH
A friend of mine is visiting at lunchtime with a few items that he made for me.
I will post details afterwards.
So, as you can see I really don't have much to report today.
I hope that your day is as peaceful. If you do get stressed please feel free to reach out for a private chat. I am home all day.

The manager was like "as we discussed..."
Listen, just because you mentioned it in passing while you were grabbing a piece of office cake and coffee doesn't mean we had a discussion about it Linda.
I hate people.
In the city today in a co-working space. It's a good reminder as to why I love working from home so much with a remote-first company like SixPivot.
So many distracting conversations and Zoom/Teams calls happening in the open office area (instead of using meeting rooms) #wfh
