Can you recall being in the first grade? I can't either, except I remember playing with clay, and drawing stick men, soldiers in battle complete with mountain fortresses. Needless to say, I should remember more because the first grade was two years of my life . Oh, I recall Dick, Jane, and Spot, but that was probably from the second year. There were those big fat pencils, remember those? We had those lined paper pads with dotted lines between the rows and our job was to use the pencil and write between the lines. I struggled with the lines. To this day, my handwriting is atrocious. I wonder what grade we started cursive ... we called it long hand.

How much of her, or anyone’s, personality was akin to a river? A wild essence flowing, but conforming to the shape of the world around it. As opposed to the stone many imagined their inner selves to be, unmoving and unchanging. The phantasm of permanence in an impermanent world.

I embrace adverbs. I am not an utilitarian. Florid exuberance is more my style. I channel Victorian and Edwardian extravagance. (But not their morality) I don't mind using a stronger verb, but eschew an adverb never.

And all that was and had ever been; forgotten and destroyed. And those stars of which had not only guided civilizations, but had been reached by those who came from caves, turned cold and eventually to dust.

When the eyes of mortal beings had looked above those stars were dead but the now they shine no light...

Everything still and cold... though that would be known only to those truely undying... those cursed unable to experience death.

I dreamt I was walking in a park and I found a small box turtle. I picked it up and it fit perfectly in the palm of my hand. I petted it as I walked, then saw some other box turtles (three or four of them) and put it down. The little turtle went to its friends as fast as it could. They seemed to converse, then they all headed straight for me, amazingly fast. I could tell they were obviously angry with me. I was being chased by a pack of angry box turtles. I had to run to escape them!
