#Linux keeps surprising me. I did nothing but upgrading to #Mint #Xia
Even if I thought it's not worth the time, I tested a #PDP headset I recently purchased from a digging box at my local electronics shop. Seems like my system is running wireplumber now, the headset was instantly connected using #xone!

Was den Fehler - also das Entfernen meines Accounts aus sämtlichen Gruppen - initial ausgelöst hat, weiß ich nicht. Ich glaube rückblickend nicht, dass es das System-Update auf #LinuxMint22.1 #Xia war. Ich habe aber zuvor auch nicht irgendwo dran 'rumgefummelt', nichts verstellt und keine neue Software installiert o.ä.
Alle, die jetzt gehofft hatten, dass ich den Auslöser des Problems nennen (bzw davor warnen) kann, muss ich also enttäuschen. Sorry.

There's a new #extension for #LinuxMint #Cinnamon that displays the number/value in the OSD when adjusting the #volume and #brightness. This fixes the problem where the value was removed in the latest version (#Xia).

I've setup #LinuxMint on my Desktop again. Even though Arch, Manajaro and Fedora are great, I need my Desktop to just work and for simple maintenance and usage Mint is great. I must say the slight redesign of the last release #Xia is looking really nice.

I really like Linux Mint Cinnamon Edition, it has been my daily driver for quite a while now and i am quite happy with it, it is functional and quite pretty for my own taste.

Although...the recent changes to the UI dialogs in 22.1 Xia are really they are so out of place that it triggers my brain buttons whenever they pop up.

Jemand ne Idee wieso #lsb_release immer noch behauptet ich wäre auf #Virginia und nicht auf #Xia obwohl ich schon letzte Woche auf #Wilma upgrade gemacht hab und meine Paketquellen auch Xia/Noble anzeigen und es da nix neues gibt?

Ich hab doch letzte Woche das Major Update bei #LinuxMint gemacht und vor 2 Tagen gabs ein neues Release #XIA also mach ich dieses Wochenende sozusagen ein weiteres Major Update... #Surprise Surprise

I normally like @linuxmint's changes in new versions and their general direction, however I'm not a fan of them removing the option to show the volume percentage in the media OSD...

Their reasoning (https://github.com/linuxmint/mint22.1-beta/issues/4#issuecomment-2535973291) seems to read as "We know some people care about setting the volume to a specific number, but we don't think they should care about it, so we removed it."

And don't bother asking for a setting to toggle this; they seem to be against that too.

I have #LinuxMint 22.1 installed now. No major issues. Searched for my backup browser, #Vivaldi, in the Software Manager, and got "No matching packages found." So grabbed the deb from their site, and when I go to install it, I get a popup saying "This package is available in the repositories." Yeah.

Then when I did install Vivaldi, it wouldn't sync to my account. The username and passwords worked, but no bookmarks or extensions and such transferred over. Ah well, I allow for such in the fresh installs I do on alternating SSDs with each new release, and have screenshots of my extension page, and exported bookmarks and such, so I can reconstruct it.

No further regressions in the colored emojis that went sour in v21. I dislike the new OSD for changing #workspaces. Turned that off and am letting the Workspace Grid applet display a 3×3 grid on the panel. Works fine, though I wish it were as bright as the icons beside it, not dark-grey on near-black in dark mode.

In Wilma, PrintScr didn't work for Screenshot, but I was able to re-assign its combinations to Pause. In #Xia, "show the workspace selection screen" does nothing with its default Alt+F1 shortcut or any other key combo I try, but I found online how to assign a Custom Shortcut to make Alt+F1 give a dbus-send command to ShowExpo, and that works now.

Also, while Ctrl+Alt+Right and Ctrl+Alt+Left allow me to move within the 456 row, Ctrl+Alt+Down and Ctrl+Alt+Up don't get me to the 123 or 789 row, despite being turned on in Workspace Grid, and cleared from their normal meanings in Keyboard Shortcuts. Odd, but I use Ctrl+Alt+Num[1–9] anyway.

While an official announcement is still pending, Linux Mint 22.1, codenamed Xia, has been released.
