Every time that I look in the mirror
All these lines on my face getting clearer
The past is gone
Oh, it went by like dusk to dawn
Isn't that the way?
Everybody's got their dues in life to pay
I know nobody knows
Where it comes and where it goes
I know it's everybody's sin
You got to lose to know how to win
Half my life's in books' written pages
Storing facts learned from fools & from sages
You view the earth

Whoa, FIFTY YEARS? I think I need to do some breathing exercises now.
That was a really great tune, I thought. Maybe I should get an mp3 for nostalgia's sake. Did that recently with some Talking Heads I'd somehow managed to not have in my music collection.

I lived in the Midwest of the US, namely Ohio, so things took a little longer to reach us and take off. 😎 A restaurant I worked in did have one of those projection things! There was a small dance floor in front of the lounge. I'd forgotten about that.
Weird how I conflate the time on the Heads and MTV-- probably because that was the first time I'd seen their work. I was mostly a high-skill art-rock fan at the time. Genesis, Crimson, Gabriel, Bruford, Eno, Fripp, UK, Yes, that kind of thing.
@AndyLowry @elliottrandall Good taste😙👌 I'm old enough to remember the first video game tables in bars... and I wanna say 1975-76??? But even the wilds of Fernwood Ohio have got Smooth Rock Falls all beat to hell (although they did love it when we played Squonk, so...)
@wertham @elliottrandall
Don't nobody don't love Squonk. All god's chilluns loves Squonk. You must have had quite an accomplished drummer, there's some tricky stuff going on with that tune.
@AndyLowry @elliottrandall Never mind the drummer! How about the poor schmuck who had to sing it, play synth AND piano.. whilst ducking all those beer bottles🫣
@wertham @elliottrandall
As long as they were Rolling Rock bottles, that's permitted.
@AndyLowry Incredibly, MTV didn't launch until summer '81 (although some clubs played 'em on projection TVs in late 70s). Heads got their big break at CBGBs in '75 then followed up w/ Psycho Killer. @elliottrandall would know infinitely more about this than me. I was just some lowly pianist playing dives in N ONT🎹
