A photo of Tsé Bitʼaʼí (Shiprock), New Mexico, USA at sunrise a little over 5 years ago. A volcanic plug that rises around 482 m (1,583 ft) above the surrounding plains, its Navajo name translates to "winged rock" and the English name stems from its resemblance to clipper sail ships and was coined in the late 1800's. It is on tribal land and can be viewed legally from nearby public roads. Climbing it is illegal.

Also worth mentioning is that it is one of the Navajo's four sacred mountains. The four mountains act as the tribe's boundaries; going outside their perimeter is unsettling to them. (Spent a lot of time with Navajo people as part of a former job.)
